Assigning "internal samples" to pads.

Hey! I just picked up an MPC 1000 with jj os 3.08. Its my first bit of gear like this and and to get started I just want to mess around using it as a drum machine.

Ive watched a couple of Tutorials on youtube, and have figured out what to do to assign Internal samples to pads, though when I attempt to add different sounds to different pads, it only plays the first one I have selected to pad, 1 on ALL the pads, even when a different sound is highlighted . Am I a total retard? Or is this something someone can help with...

first of all , if you bought your mpc second hand , i advice you reset the machine to original specs , with AKAI os first then install the jjos back.
Then delete the autoload program you might find on the hard drive or memory card.

And make sure you RTFM !!!

If you assign sample 1 to pad 1 , sample 2 to pad 2....etc , you shoul hear a different sound for each pad...

is the "sixteen levels" button lit?
