switch batch converter degrading samples?

have you guys used switch before? it seems like whenever i load a sample library that is 24 bit into switch to change it to 16 bit for the mpc, quite a few of the samples will have an audible click that makes them unusable.

anyone have the same problem, or could you recommend a batch converter for mac that doesnt do this? preferably freeware. thanks!

I've had good experiences with Audacity for batch converting samples.

switch is some of the worst software ive ever used.

Please enlighten me! Up until now I've been using audacity to tediously convert samples one by one. Are you saying there's a way I can just take a whole folder of 44.1k samples and export as 22.05k?

thanks for the replies guys, ill check these out. ive also never had much luck with audacity, would love to learn what you guys do with it.

I've converted 60,0000 samples in one day using iTunes, easiest tool I've used for batch conversion.

If you go to "File" there is a section called Chains (Edit/Apply). You can create a Chain that saves a file in wav format, then go to "apply" chain and open a folder full of wav files.

The way I had it setup, i would open a folder and it would dump out all the files in a "clean" folder within the same directory.

very cool info - have never tried the chains.
edit: just checked them out and seems useful - shame it only works on native audacity fx (the hard limiter is very handy).

my vote still goes for foobar2000 - no better batch converter with more intelligent programming that can be as basic or complex as the user wants.
