Finally... I just bought an MPC4000 :)

Took me a few years, but I just grabbed myself a 4000 off ebay for £480. Looks in good nick bar a couple of scratches here and there, the whites still look 'white' not dirty yellow like some of the ones knocking around - just the usual temperamental Q link sliders

Next, send it off to ghostinmpc for one of those sexy matt black makeovers...

Stressing about delivery now - just asked him to send it express courier, quadruple bagged in a vacuum surrounded by carbonite.

Would rather pick it up, but he's down in Truro, just about as far away as you can get from Sheffield, 11 hour round trip.

Not likely soon, but I will be making some proper MPC4000 packs fairly quickly.

sp-12 next time I guess... maybe if you see a non turbo one for dirt cheap you could grab it and get the expansion when you can afford to budget it in or something..

Call it an option for the future, if pressed to choose between the two I'd take the MPC4000 all day. SP12 is so old it doesnt even have a built-in floppy drive FFS and 5 seconds of sampling time. Fingers crossed the 4K arrives safely, shit weighs a ton.

yeah, doesn't it take a tape drive for saving? haha.. you could save the save data on another sampler... haha.

well you could use a tape machine, or you could send the tape out to a track in your DAW.

or record it into the 4k.. hey, saving .wav versions of c64 software is something that has been going on for years... in the early days of that mp3s were not good enough though (think 64kbps or less) but now even with 320kbps you should be good... not sure if that applies with the sp though...

The seller seems very good on this front - he's not going to send it until he's definitely got all the correct packing sorted for it. But hopefully it will be here tomorrow before noon

Should be getting an S900 delivered today as well, been a busy week on the sampler front
