Huge difference between owning and using   which is clearly shown in your posts regarding legacy mpcs and the lack of experience with them.

Not to mention your Ren posts that require thinking outside of the box which cant be found in the user manual...

I completed a project on the mpc 1000 out the box no update which exact version i cannot tell you but i know it was one of the earliest it shipped with as he had it not long after it dropped in the uk and did not update it just used it how it is

did not crash once

completed project and exported the parts to daw just did the bar of snare drums trick and lined em up in the daw then mixed and done

not at any time in this experience did I say why did that happen or damn it crashed did you save it it how come that doesn't work

I cant say this about the Ren I wish I could though

So you did or didn't use OS1.0 of the MPC 1000? Freezes were frequent. Sequence data missing. Saving issues. I could go on. But it's all documented by numerous forum members here. Do a search and the issues are easy to find.

This is the first mpc/product of any kind I have bought that basically does not work as advertised and crashes so much

mpc 1000 with the akai software had a few missing features that I & many people wanted but did not stop me working and Im sure it didnt stop others I did a project on a friends very first version of the mpc 1000 and he still has not updated it to this day it did not crash constantly not even once doing the project it pretty much did what it said on the tin

can you tell me which mpc or product worked so bad it needed an update to work as advertised and that had so many features broken?

Im not talking about great 1.0 or 1.1 or what ever version number

Im talking about a working version full stop

I have owned every MPC released since 1997. OS 1.0 on the Ren is as usable as OS 1.0 on any hardware MPC since that time. You can also search this forum and should likely find what I am talking about. While this may not comfort you, this is reality. The earlier model MPCs have far less features and functionality. But the software was far from perfect. OS 1.0 and 1.1 of the MPC 2000 and MPC 4000 were completely unusable. I am sure there are plenty of MPC 1000 users that will tell you OS 1.0 was awful.

Wrong! I bought my 1000 in 2005...months after the release. As far as feature limitations, it had some compared to later models but compared to the 2000XL that I had before the 1000 I wasn't missing anything big (plus it worked so much faster). If I remember right, my xl had timestretch but the 1000 didn't have it when I first got it. But as for functionality, it never once crashed until 1.1 or 1.2 came out. One of those upgrades actually introduced a bug that caused it to crash when saving large projects.

Customer loyalty is great but trying to defend the way akai's handled this Ren/Studio project from the beginning is laughable. Advertising capabilities that just aren't there, dangling fixes over consumer's head to keep them around...[insert Ed Lover] c'mon son

Ableton Live 9 comes out on March 5 as a free upgrade from 8 (for previous owners). They've talked about it for months but did not release a date until a week ago. Why, because they weren't ready. I can guarantee that on March 5th when I go to upgrade I won't have to look at a forum for a text message from an employee telling me about a delay.

Now, put all of that aside and let's say ALL the past units did release full of bugs and empty promises of capabilities and false update releases. Is that supposed to somehow make everything cool? They need to fix this. I never had complaints about the xl for the short time i had it (got stolen) or my 1000 but if they don't fix this I'm done with akai. Losing me as a customer won't hurt business one bit but at least I'll have my peace of mind.

Rant over

The MPC 1000 didn't come out in 2005. It was updated by the time 2005 rolled around. And if you claim it worked fine on 1.0 (which it didn't), that goes against the numerous reports to the contrary in this forum and across the Internet.

That's quite embarrassing when you put it like that.

love how the thread is now a Live update thread.
is funny if not ironic.

Is the Ren update gonna make it be able to sample higher than 16bit? Or is it set to CD quality sampling only cos of hardware? meh either way I am still not sold - yet!

It does seem a bit of a shambles at the moment. They so should not say when unless they have done it and tested it, not rushed it and not tested it, as it seems now. Or do the betatesters only get a day or two to test? seems shabby that to.

Yeah no company is perfect but it does not instill confidence at all to see dev team tweet it. huh? seems cool but if you think about it he should not have the release date, as its the management and the quality control managers that have that final say. do you see what I am saying? Or do they not use quality control? no not the album by J5.

at no point do i mention using a specific version number only that it had to be a early version due to it not being out long and him not updating it

either way dude no crashes freezes of any such nature which is my main point

with the amount of crashes and how stable the ren software isnt you would of thought someone would of thought about a recover feature like ableton

why would the man lie? what does he has to gain by doing so like me he obviously used it in practice

Are you actually a producer that produces or a guy who buys and test's gear? I'm asking because other members seem to be saying otherwise its a big difference from just testing and playing with things to actually using them and finishing projects with them

some people are well educated but not very well experienced ...the experience makes all the difference to the understanding

You guys should just be patient. You waited this long, might as well hold out just a little while where the price will drop and PTex included. So sell your Rens now for $1,200.00 and cop it again for $999.00 brand new on March Madness where it'll be equiped with 1.3 and PTex. You come out winning either way because you saved $200. Hustle think hustle.
