If the MPC comes standard with 16MB then unit should boot up fine without any memery stick installed? I been working on this MPC for months now. When i audition samples i don't get the same sound plus a little static almost sound like the sound is warped. When i try to load sound it will i see the bar load halfway and then machine stalls. All buttons work just not able to load. try different memory, clean memory slots with detox. same static from headphone jacks and main out in back. bad motherboard if i can't even use the standard 16MB or bad memory slot if i can't load any samples?

Thanks

You mention loading sounds, but have you tried sampling a sound using external gear?

That would be my next trick. I going to try that. The mpc sees the memory. It actually says 272MB (256+16) wierd

well, do you have any memory sticks installed? if it says 272 and you have nothing in the ram slots then my feeble mind would suggest you have a problem. or try loading sound via flash (usb) drive.

also, you should use try using articles, verbs and punctuation. those help.

Ahh ok. memory installed.

this is a forum not English class. Lets stick to subject please. Focus :-D

Since sound load into memory. when i try loading sample machine freezes and have to restart. Every function works on the machine. I'm wondering if its the PCB I/O.

just tested sampling feature. i can't hear any sample. I assigned sound to pad. nothing!

must be AD/DA PCB board

I'm assuming this is where the sample conversion process takes place. Signal in. Which is then converted to digital format...just a theory. but would that explain why i can't load samples...hmmmm

further testing

i was able to load a program and all sequence. When i play a sequence I get static like a tiny ant is playing on steel drums. I have a working MPC so i think i'm going to swapped out the AD/DA PCB board to see if that is the culprit. I will report back in a few days if anyone is interested.

Thanks

I get static like a tiny ant is playing on steel drums .. i laughing my ass of

i can not help you on this, you probably have to change components until the problem is solved or solving it with selling..

but i realise the same thing that through audition the sample sounds diferent then when it is normaly asigned to a pad.. not bad or better but like more loud ´forwarded ´ so it may say that it in audition it uses some diferent path to output the sound.. i have reading that during first OSs the auditioning was not possible so when they incorporate it it to newer version of the OS they have to find new paths to do that..

hope ya doing it well to use the MP for what it is.. a awsome instrument
