s2000 any hard drives around?

have got my s2000 back out and have given it full memory (how cheap these days!) was wondering if there are any hard drives around that are compatable with the s2000 for saving sample etc. on?

I said it before and I say it again: stay away from harddrives in instruments. Why?

Hard drives do make noise and generate heat, but its far from being a deal breaker. So much gear has internal hard drives and more recently solid state drives for the reasons stated by peter and myself. If I were you I'd look into the option of installing a CF drive connected to the IDE or SCSI bus, I'm not sure which the S2000 has. An old school rotating hard drive always remains an option, especially if you're not a 'power user' and not to concerned about noise, heat and potential HD failure.

s2000s have no scsi internal port on the motherboard, you could do a floppy emulator to SD but thats about it.

floppy emulator is the way to go

S-2000's do have an internal SCSI port as they use the same mainboard the S-3000XL uses, it's just not soldered on.



Just buy a connector and...



I'd personally stay away from internal HDD's, find them useless and on Akai's even more so.

Remember they only see 512 MB regardless of how big the drive is, this bottle neck has been here since the S-1000

Cheapest option is an external zip drive if your sampler is fitted with the SCSI option

Yeah, And the OS reads the socket just fine? it finds it in the scsi chain? nice
