It was after they embargoed PS2's for sale in Iraq. People were like are you serious? Sony was like actually yeah, the NSA and them are. Apparently certain chips and semiconductors would be easier for Iraq to gut out of PS3's rather than buy for the set prices if other countries even legally could make the sales.

Back on topic, don't damn your Ren. That's like giving up on your kid at 6 months old.

What's funny is that if you took a an old MPC user that new nothing about the Ren, sat them in front of it with the computer completely hidden to where they can't see it, and let them use it, they would never know a computer was attached!

The price of the MPC4000 has dropped noticeably over here, despite being a surefire future classic. Pick one up while they are cheap...

Edit: just to clarify, I do prefer working with the hardware models but I also embrace the new direction of the controller/ software concept. For me legacy file compatibility is an absolute must due to the models I currently own and intend to keep. I've used the software so I'm aware of the workflow and other issues which have frustrated so many.

The 5000, 2500, 2000, 2000xl, MPC 1000 Black, all went up in price on eBay since September.

I've been tracking them all summer long since Ren didn't have a concrete release date back then. Out of all of the models, the 2500 seems to have went up the most, it's like a $350 difference from a mint 2500 and refurbed 5000.

What all of em, at the same time? I'm in the UK and don't see that happening here. Maybe you guys will have to start buying MPC's from us and shipping them over. What goes around, comes around as they say...

I've been making music for a while. Just because I haven't owned any of the standalone MPCs doesn't mean my comments should be taken less seriously. Isn't this what the forum is for? Sharing ideas and opinions?

Maybe I've just come to the wrong place.

The prices of hardware MPCs have not changed significantly. I looked at US eBay today and the prices are what I expect....from an average of $300 to $1500 depending on the model. The same goes for MPC second hand prices here in Japan....pretty much the same price range. I purchased a mint MPC 4000 for under $1000...and a mint MPC 3000LE for under $1200.

As far as the 'real' MPC debate...it's pretty stupid really. The debate is being engaged by those that feel they have a certain 'status' as a hardware MPC user. It's like guys here are threatened by the Ren...like it may make them less relevant in the forum. And I get it. If you visit the other sub forums dedicated to individual hardware MPCs....they are pretty much dead...nothing to discuss that hasn't been discussed thousands of times. Even the popularity of the JJOS appears to be waning. The Ren/Studio forum is now the new hang out spot/MPC social network. And the only way for hardware MPC enthusiasts to contribute here is to create silly threads/posts or engage in meaningless banter.

i'm sure if the Ren was a driving down prices people like you would be whimpering about that ,winners and losers that's life get over it.

When you tried to name your first sample or zoom on the waveform you'd know pretty quick. I would anyway.

The Ren was my first MPC, I can see why people like using them....I hardly look at the PC screen when using it......................It's a great tool to have in the studio.....the surface has only just been scratched with this thing!
