Yes, it occurred to me that he may have a bunch of Rens, but I feel selling your 005/100 Limited Edition Ren is always going to be interpreted by many as an incredibly symbolic gesture. If this is legit (big IF), then he really should know better and I seriously doubt Akai will be happy about it. I also doubt Akai would be supplying the guy with Rens with the understanding that he could sell them on - that's not the point of endorsements.
People often make deals that involve obtaining the product because the value of the product itself can likely go up. So along with getting paid money, or residual, one might want the item as well. It is interesting that the subject line bought out the negative angle from so many in here.
Again, I doubt the 'value' has anything to do with receiving one of these. It's a thank you and of course, a fantastic PR opportunity. Nothing more.
3) How much do you think/know is the true cost per machine of the Renn?
I have a very good idea how much these things cost to make in terms of manufacturing costs, but have no idea what they cost in terms of R & D and ongoing marketing & support costs, so it's a very hard question to answer.
