.wav samples showing up as 'invalid format' in MPC

I chopped up the built-in sounds from my Roland Fantom into Ableton, and now am trying to transfer those samples into my MPC. But after I load these samples into the MPC and try to audition or 'play' them I get an 'invalid format' sign from the MPC.

The files are just 'windows wav', so I'm not sure why the MPC is rejecting them.

Any ideas?

Make sure they are 16 bit

Yeah, find the bit rate and see if it's some permutation of a 24 bit sample rate. The mono sample rates will be halved over the stereo ones. Use the 'details' view in Explorer and right click to add bit rate and sample rate. If it doesn't show you can use iTunes to check. OS X use get info and so on.

Or just look at the info in Ableton I think the waveform view will tell you bit/sample rate.

Yea, that was exactly it. I had it at 32 bit before, lowered it to 24 bit and that did it. Whew, thanks a lot.

You never said what MPC, but 4000 will take 24 bit, 5000 will take it but convert it 16 bit, all other MPC's save the 60's will need 16 bit 44khz files or .SND files. But you said you're sorted so, just wanted to add that to thread for info's sake.
