Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Last time I bought new pad sensors for 2 MPCs that I was fixing, BTW since I am posting this in here I assume all know I am talking about MPC2000 and MPC2000XL, but I am pretty sure this will work also for other models... anyways, I bought the sensors and I was ready to put this old sensors in the garbage can when I started looking at the sensors and how are made, so I notice that I can easily cut the damaged sensors and "reuse" the good ones if I have another ones that are good, so good luck for me the ones that were bad in one sheet were okay in the other sheet so I cut them and I did test it on my MPC2000... final result... well... it worked! you just need to see this thing it is pretty simple 4 pad sensors are connected each pad with 1 contact and then the whole 4 pads with a common contact so for every 4 pads you have 5 contacts at the end of the connector should go... if 1 pad goes bad on the same row you basically just lost the 4 pads because you cannot just replace one... better explained here with pics, I assume you can see what I did... I just cut what I needed without damaging the contacts then I assemble them as puzzle... easy fix, you save some money on your wallet...

Why do this so-called fix when pad sensors are so cheap? You gotta accept that some maintenance is required with these machines, pad sensors, tact switches, buttons etc. If I bought a machine with this type of 'refurb' I'd feel like I'd been robbed unless the seller explicity stated "pad sensors cobbled together from two different machines".

Not worthy of being stickied in all honesty, but cool you got it to work out for you.

Pads sensors are $70, I did fixed this for my personal MPC2000 NOT for resale, nothing beats cheaper than free and nothing beats knowing you can fix a simple issue like having 1 pad bad by your self without expending a penny.

Yea, actually... 70 bucks is not "cheap"... That same 70 could mean the difference between having electricity, to use your MPC, or not... lol

The question I have tho is... Can the contacts be repaired if damaged? ... Cats, hot soldering irons, tinned tips and open MPC's do not mix...all that well...
