That's a seriously cool idea

what would be amazing if it added slice or que point as you sampled in
so you hit a pad and it puts in a cue point or slice as it continues recording

bit like the way cd deck or traktor would operate with que points so you grabbing
bits of sample on the fly.

i would pay extra for updates with stuff like this in it whatever it takes to make the
a better

This would be dope if they could add the ping pong feature. Phatmatik Pro and I used to be best friends when I first started sampling I knew it like the back of my hand.
 Only thing is that you can really hear the reverse in the track so wouldn't it be better to time stretch the sample so it'll be a cleaner sound unless that is the effect you are going for?

Sup Jigdagod! Timestretch would be cool only if it was as fast as the pingpong playback. Normally u'd have to to do all kinds of tedious things to get one chop to stretch. Once I put drums on that track you couldn't hear the reverses. Recycle and Phatmatik are still my best friends to this day. Really pissed Izotope stop supporting it. I even offered to invest in their company if they updated it. I'd do the same with Akai.

The MPC is getting closer though. If they could add little things little like:

1. Pingpong playback(forward-reverse)
2. Adding the line that follows the cursor to know exactly where your chop would land on the whole waveform,
3. faster zooming in and out
4. The option to have the audition function work as soon as you go to the next sample.

I think Fxpansions Geist is the best chopper on the market but even that program needs forward reverse. Much needed but overlooked feature that companies are missing these days imo..

It depends on how you do it.
You can do a very inaudible reverse loop for cymbals, for example.
To elaborate: take a crash cymbal you have sampled from a break / drum solo that doesn't have a proper tail. You want to have it fade out but it has to sound natural. You can't really do that with timestretching, but if you do a nice reverse loop and let that fade out, it's hard to tell it's looping (when you have other drum sounds playing).
Super useful.

Also, timestretching may affect the punchiness of a drum sample sometimes, and that's why I don't do it.

Would definitely like to see this added to Program Edit's Pad Play Modes. In addition to One Shot or Note On...there should be a second parameter with additional options to include Forward, Reverse, or Alternating (Forward<->Reverse).

Maybe the one feature I miss dearly now, since hardware zoom's available now.

Understood. I agree that those little things you mention should be added. Especially the faster zooming in and out. I'm used to using the scroll wheel for my zoom for various programs like FL Studio and Sony Sound Forge so the hardware zoom they introduce doesn't do it for me.

I never used Geist, but I used to make all my beats using Phatmatik before FL Studio introduced SliceX.

Fanu,

I got you. I will have to dig deeper into since I never really used it before. I timestretch a majority of the times.

Yes yes yes and yes.
THe 4k had alternating playback so its a logical addition.
THe Ren could be the first AKAI MPC OS to have non destructive reverse playback, that would be an at last moment.
Here is hoping...

I said this some months ago and no one cared...i should be able to play an album, navigate using data wheel like a scub, then set loop IN and loop OUT to mark regions then extract and send straight to chop shop :)

well i'd love something like this we may see some more interest when they integrate
traktor with maschine thats the rumor any how but for now just looks like just the two of us that are interested.
