What's good people? Just getting started using the MPC and I was just wondering if any of you guys are using a software program. I hear pro tools is the way to go but will a software really make the projects easier/better? I feel like the MPC has enough capability to make a complete track w/out any assistance other than MIDI....Any tips or words of advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

you can for sure create an entire track within the mpc , but when it comes to reverbs or compression and precise editing , that is to say mixing , you may find yourself better off working on a software like protools , logic or cubase , whichever the one is easier for you to work with , and then use quality outboard gear or plugins for that matter....

But the tricky part is that you have to use a GOOD quality AD converter to bounce your mpc tracks in the computer (or export your seq and samples via usb , but i've never tried that myself....)

I say do the max you can in the mpc and then put those seperate tracks in the software and finalize the thing..........if you can afford it.

i bounce down and drag and drop via usb and it works great.

i prefer logic over protools, but everyone likes a different workflow, you might wanna compare a few different DAW's.

Preciate that guys. I'm gonna just try out different kinds of softwares. Seems difficult but it wont hurt to try. When u bounce down via usb, you just take any tracks from your documents or what? My MPC seems to freeze whenever I engage the usb is why I'm asking.

Does your PC have a CF reader? I don't even bother with the USB connection, just pull the CF from the MPC and put it into the reader. Might be an option for you.
