VGA monitor

anyone use one of these for your 4000?

There is no vga connector on the mpc4000. I think you are a little confused.

One nice thing that the MV-8000's VGA option has , that we can NOT get with Ak.Sys
currently (they could and should add it in an update), is being able to view and edit
the sequencer part. Not an option on the MPC 4000 at the moment. Not needed
necesarily in a live environment (which I don't normally have a computer hooked up)
but in my Studio, I do have Ak.Sys hooked up quite a bit, and it would be nice to get
the real estate that a monitor provides (you can see the benefits in the Multi section)

I was just on the MV-8000 website and they just added a demo of VGA functions
and It would be a nice feature to implement on the MPC 4000. Of course you can
do graphic editing of the sequences in Cubase or something like that, but that takes
it out of the environment. You can't just drag and drop and the press play and listen.
You'd have to export then import.

agree, imo akai would really be expanding their market criteria if they'd add graphic seq editing in akai sys, !!!

not only to diminish the mw penis muchers (lol Aww_Nww) but they'd be stepping up into the cubase, logic territory aswell and I can defentaly see akai with their solid hardwhare and the MPC reputation coming in strong

Just add the sequencer section to Ak.Sys and give us a good visual representation
of sequencer and abliity to edit sequences, and you won't hear me asking for a monitor
option. Though they should be thinking about that for the MPC 5000 or 10000 whenever
they drop that bomb.

yep that 3000 vga out has the craziest grafiks, that is if your into 8bit video games :)

& on topic akai has released in akaisys a "track view" for their DSP recorders, haven't sean it but I'll take a drunk&wild guess that it is s graphic view of tracks!?!

any reson why the 4k seqcuencer couln't be controlled via usb ??..

To be honest, it's really just a matter of them writing the program for it. If the MPC-4000's
sysex didn't have any capabilities (if Sysex is what Ak.Sys uses, don't really know
myself), then they would just need to write a new sysex implemention in a future OS.

I personally don't think it would max out the USB connection, as no audio is
being transferred. Now whether the StrongArm Processor can handle doing
everything that it's doing right now, plus outputting it's sequencer information
and keeps it's tight timing, is up for the Akai Engineers to figure out.

But, as you've stated, the DPS engineers have figured out Trackview for the DPS 24,
which is pretty similar to something that we'd want but instead of audio it would be sequencer info.

The Trackview itself looks REALLY nice and does make me seriously think about
the DPS, as I'm in the market for a mixing board, and might as well throw in
flying faders and 24 Track harddisk recorder that can then mix down to Burned
Audio CD.

Indivdual Peak Meters at the top and the visual layout of the tracks below. All via USB,
so I do think that Akai has the Engineers that can do this, and that USB can handle it,
and most likely the StrongArm processor can handle it.

I would be a happy for just "block segments' that the MV-8000's VGA out has, but Akai
of course went the extra mile in the DPS and you can actually see the waveforms
themselves. I bet that looks nice on a good 30" fliat screen in the studio. All the benefits
of a dedicated hardware system, with the benefits of a computer thrown on top.

Also, I"m glad that's it's got Aux out's
as I'm afraid it may have the same FX as the MCP 4000. Looking through the DPS"s manual looks like they are the same. As I've said before, i do believe that the MPC's are useable, but I wouldnt' want them to be my only option for all of the my instruments.


Now how to come up with the money for one.
