I want an SP 1200 but damn!!

SP1200 reissue on ebay.co.uk (London) collection only.

£1800 ($2731) or best offer, from the pics looks like a first reissue model. Not a bargain by any means, but appears to be in good shape.

I'm thinking if $2300 is the absolute ceiling here in the US (granted on only 2-3 units on any given day), if they would ship overseas wouldn't the shipping be less than $400USD? (Provided you don't mind a N.American unit as far as electrical considerations)

The units on ebay US are more like 2700$ ceiling. Shipping overseas is much less than 400$, but you have to think about customs clearance fees too. I bought mine from ARMEN and i was lucky he put only 200$ as the value of the sold product, so i had to pay only 50$ for customs, if he put 2500$ as the value, customs would have been like 600$.

Problem here is you're lucky to find 2-3 units in any given year, hence the inflated prices. In a good year you might see 4-5 SP1200s on eBay UK. All the other sought after machines (808, 909, MPC3000, MPC60, linnDrum etc) make regular appearances. The studio 440 has always eluded me, but I got close once!

Stupid prices are due to f-wits like Armens putting such high prices on stock they don't want to sell quickly, to wait for some retard to come along with too much money and no patience.

Then genuine non-commercial/ripoff sellers see what Armens are charging, think that is the going rate, and then everyone is asking such stupid prices.

Just have to be patient and wait for the right deal to come along.

Bought this on ebay recently, $550 (+$140 shipping from the US), plan to freshen it up with a new set of slider caps, probably give it a new set of blue/red buttons and sliders, and either a VFD or LED backlit LCD...

I would like to find a Commodore 1541/1541-II disk drive emulator, that uses SD cards or something similar, works as an external drive on the SP-12 disk drive port, and is currently available.

Has anyone seen this done, and have any idea what was used?
