audio tracks are like audio tracks on a DAW. you can record audio phrases such as guitar riffs and lyrics in time with the the sequencer. however, on the MV, regardless of the initial BPM at which the audio is recorded, it automatically timestretches whenever you change the tempo.

you can pull up insert fx on the insert tab in the program and track mixer pages.

Put all plugins in alphabetical order regardless of capital or lower case letters. I was looking for my Nexus and didn't think to look at the bottom because I knew it would either start with an N or R, but it was at the bottom.

Midi sync input (was mentioned in the NAMM videos as coming in 1.4). Midi direct out from the Ren's hardware midi ports while in plug mode. Other than that I'm good.

Edit: Oh yeah, I'd also like to be able to erase midi notes I've played by hitting the erase button and then the keys on the synth/midi controller to select the notes. Right now that functionality isn't available on the Ren. Every other MPC I own works this way.

That's cool, but the idea is to not have to move either hand when chopping. Left hand stays at the Q Links, right hand on the pads! No moving to different areas of the machine taking your focus off your chopping or off the screen!

That's cool, but the idea is to not have to move either hand when chopping. Left hand stays at the Q Links, right hand on the pads! No moving to different areas of the machine taking your focus of your chopping or off the screen!

I agree. Transport buttons are perfect for zooming as seen in the JJ OS. But also the Fine Edit Screen as seen in the MPC 1000, 2000, 2000XL, 2500, 5000, and JJOS is still the perfect way (the MPC way) to zoom in/out to make fine edits. You simply move the cursor over the Sample/Slice start or end parameter and press [Window]. Then the Fine Edit screen is displayed which shows both ends of the waveform. This is perfect for creating loops. The F keys are used for zooming in/out. I would like to see this implemented in the MPC Ren software as well.

This method has been good for over a decade. I have never seen one post in an internet forum indicating an MPC user disliking how an MPC edits in this manner. This is a case of not messing with perfection. This is the workflow for the MPC 1000, 2000, 2000XL, 2500, and 5000...in other words, the majority of MPC users are well-versed in this method.

Meh, sounds like too many steps! The way I'm suggesting, when used in combination with pad audition, the Q Link would zoom on the selected slice; slice being selected by pressing the pad. So no need to move any cursors or change any fields. You can quickly get both ends of a slice on the screen zoomed in! And zooming is just a simple turn of a knob which is where your view of focus and hand already is. No need to go over to the transport smacking buttons!

It's not about disliking old ways. It's more about improving and moving with the times. The other good thing about using the Q Links is that the Q Link knobs can be labeled in the software making it EASY to know how to zoom/scroll.

Currently, the feature is like a hidden command that a new user couldn't really figure out without reading a manual or without someone telling them how to zoom. It feels like something that was added AFTER the fact of the controller, vs something that was designed into the controller. The unused Q Links are such an ideal control for this function and would really maximize the Ren's Q Link function. I would guarantee that if implemented, any user would prefer this to any of the old MPC, JJOS, or current zoom feature execution!

Be able to hide unused tracks in the program mix.

Is there a way to pull up an effect from the hardware? I don't mean insert it either. I want to be able to pull it up and edit from the hardware.

I took me several hours but I deleted all AKAI's kits and categorized all my sounds and I feel more organized with my sounds. AKAI should organize and name the sounds for us! NI did a great job of that.
