If everybody buys the same ish, yes, itll get played out quick. And the piano is the piano, but if you had the same exact engineer micing and producing with the same exact outboard ish everytime a current artist played a piano in the studio, yes that sound would get played too. Or what if, everytime she played, it wasn't piano, but instead the same sitar patch on the Motif, over and over. You don't wanna hear the same sounds, and the more people buy something, the less important it is, unless it's a record or a movie ticket. That's good for Yamaha, but bad for music. Thats what happens w/ these keyboards. I think if you have more than one machine, and you like to keep it fresh and challenge yourself, you all good.
Of course it depends on who plays it, that's a given, but when people who don't even know about production know you are using a Triton, just from reading a magazine and listening to hot 97, well, you know the machine is never gonna give you your own sound. I was making a joke like, everyone should tell people their keyboard is whack, so people don't go overusing it. Would never work tho. **** it, I want a motif too, but you get my point.
Yo Keys, please do NOT applologize for wanting to make pop music. Some of the best writing goes on in big time music, whether it can sound corney or not. Go get that next Brittanny or whatever, and make that money; you don't owe anybody an explanation for that. Did you hear that Destiny's Child joint that Rodney Jerkins did? Sick. All you cats who put a kick and a snare over a loop could learn something from these people you mistakenly point to as sellouts.

but man it's not about sounds, people buy the motif because of the great quality and the sequencer on it, plus there's always new patches you can update your motif with. And with an MPC you can do amazing things with it, all my cousin uses is the motif and the MPC in his setup.

Are you a R&b dude or a hip Hop Dude?? I thnk you miss the Point,You Comparing Hip Hop to R&B.Hip Hop Is about Beat and Ryhmes R&B is more about Musicianship and singing,Hip hop doesn't have to be. What I'm saying is
don't try to FORCE Hip Hop to be R&B BTW the Motif and Trition Presets are Homosexual sounding. Check out an Old Analog board (Moog or Roland) or maybe a Fender Rhodes or Something.

But me personally I'm a fan of sample based music some keyboard joints are aiight I cant front but it's like fast food meal to me it's just dont stick to the rib. Manny and all them is nice as hell but I'd rather hear some Extra-P, Buckwild, Diamond D type sh1t. It aint a matter of being stuck its a matter of tastes.

Troop I feel ya man! Tell ya the truth i cant wait till people move on past the motif es cause im married to this bytch, and i cant see myself spending more money on the same thing! The motif, mpc and nord lead gives me enuff sounds to make good music for along time. Im done buying this type of stuff. Im abouts to build a new recording studio so all my money is gona go into new mics, pre amps, mixers, monitors and so on. Overall we should make the music we like, but understand that the music you make may predict the outcome of your W2 forms at the end of the year. Dont get mad when what you do isnt not catching the ear of who is spending the money!

***** hip hop is the cuture, rap is what people do. If your talking about the lyrics not being the same as they was in the 90's then that has nothing to do with beats. If your talking about beats then rap(or as you call it hip hop) is the off spring of Rhythem and blues, rock n roll, jazz,....Hell rap lyrcis is the off spring of poetry! Im not a R&b dude or just Hip hop dude...Im a music dude. I go and chill with cats that 60 years old and talk about music and have deep convos about music of today and music that was made back in the 40's. Im only 23.....I have a deep love for music period! Did you not read when i said i love premo to Guns n Roses! to muddy waters.........O yea i have nord lead rack thats a VA and its kind of close so dont go there cuz! So you go check out a old analog board. Boom bap is good but it has its place and dont get mad if its place is not on top because of people who buy music! That dont mean boom bap aint good it just means its not what people are after, so get over it. Hell bush won, i voted for kerry, we lost, i move on. You need to and not point a finger at me!

Can you get a live band to replay boom bap type of music if you wanted to do a unplug version of it. Hell jayz has nice flow and he pulled off with the world famous Roots band cause his music had some kind of melodic back ground too it. Remember LL cool j version of unplugg.......All i can remember was a guy going "AAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW" some drums and pretty much nothing nothing else. He

All I'm sayin is I don't want all my rappin' ****** that use sample beats to end up like Lil' Flip (Now being sued by Namco for using tha Pac Man sample in his Game Over Remix). I don't want to see more of them go broke or even broker (Most don't start out with much anyway). Anyway who is really in trouble for that kinda of shit, the rapper for using the beat or the producer who made the beat? Can someone answer that for me please?

im studying music so i have the ability to create a wide range of music. more then just the norm. you digg? so yes i write r&b music and yes i write hiphop beats. and yes i write tracks. man instead of being close minded try to think outside the box. man its a whole world of music outside of hiphop and if you can take ideas from that and incorporate that INTO your hiphop beats you'll be on another level. then you keep goin from there. man i love hiphop. i grew up around it! i respect the art. i respect every style that sounds good. but i do suggest everybody just read about it and put some time in to learn it will up your level. yea its 2004 and all i hear is music taken from older tracks. it sounds tiight to me. i love all that. and since we peeped that we should try to think outside just that. so we can stand out. thats when the learnin process will start. man im just tryna help all of us who have talent stand out
:)

for every one person that dislikes the sounds of a motif theres 50+ folks that do.

Yo doveski whoes breasts r those in ur avatar? lol give em props from London kid.

club music/hip hop is the fast food of the music world

its good to listen to that stuff at the club, but if thats the only type of hip hop u listen to then u dont appreciate the full spectrum of hip hop music.

I really dig this thread and the post but now it's how you construct your
beats also the game has changed dramatically nobody wants to do the
work so it's get the beats done by any means necessary type of atti-
tude alot of musicians from back in the day are hurting son if you are
not able to make transitions in order to be marketable you can forget
it hang up your gloves and I watched the Jimmy Kimmel show and
saw this Pop cat using a Motif 8.

I cant stress this more be INNOVATIVE
if you are looking to make money in this industry because they have
the listeners who alot of whom are young teenagers who have been
conditioned in the clubs for the water and not the flame you feel me
they wouldnt know what a real beat was or is **** I miss "SLY And
The Family Stone" and "Idris Muhammad" NOW HERE THIS ---This
was real music and they used those old Moogs too.
