What is your top request for 1.4?

No Order

1-VSTi Multi outs
2-Plug-in sort for FX (not just Instruments)
3-Meters & FX on submixes
4-Option for mixer settings to be 'grouped/controlled' across sequences
5-Decay envelope Fixed (provide AD or AHD)
6 Step Edit (Legacy functionality)
7-Automation tools (ie Line tools)
8-Option to use the Ren as hardware midi controller when used in a DAW
9-PDC (Plug-In Delay Compensation)
10-Revamped Mixer -Groups, More Plug-In outs (inc Mono), FX re-order, presets etc

As a side note - I finally gave in and bought NI Maschine MK2 so I can judge for myself which is the better tool for me. In some ways it's a sad day coz I was always an 'MP guy' but honestly, I was somewhat underwhelmed by 1.3 and don't have forever to wait for Akai to get it right. I also noticed that I spend far too much time on this forum asking and debating for stuff I want the Ren to do..

Anyway.. I intend to hold on to my Ren for a further 2 updates (secretly hoping my wishlist gets attended to). If it does, then I intend to simply revert back to it a sell the MK2. However if it doesnt, and my first impressions of Mashine are good (except the pads-HATE THEM!), then I guess it's bye-bye Ren

Maschine does this to an extent. To really get fine editing on Maschine, you have to hold shift.

But, Maschine also lets you quickly zoom in and scroll the samples from the encoder knobs, which is where your hands already are when editing a sample. You don't have to go down to the bottom of the controller and press shift+anything!

Also, for 1.4 we need to be able to select/deselect Edit Zones from the hardware!

make your 120 -180bpm hard quantizing music ... much more groovy for brain and body
nobody is playing same microtiming in new variation beat.


to use a good template
its not easy
but it can help for fantastic dancing beats
and it make more fun in autoquantize
two or three different templates simultanly is best

some sequenzers have groove quantize:

If you are looking at your computer monitor, it is pointless to use the Qlinks for editing in my opinion as you can simply insert/remove and move slices with your mouse. This is much faster from my experience.

In use ren should feel like hardware mpc not computer, there is no mouse attached to hardware mpc, take a look at your collection.

In the future, I'd like to see a live track for sampling, that way you can do live tweaking before you record the sample.

EDIT: A really important feature I'd like to see added is when you sample from say a microphone or a line input with the XLR-1/4 port, is to make the monitoring output a mono stereo channel, instead of monitoring just that one side.

What you mean change the sample program with mouse?

When you select your Program or Sample, it doesn't highlight or change the program, you have to do it through the hardware or drag the program slightly for it to change.

Also, how come there isn't a button to remove unused channels in Program Mix, similar to that of the Track Mixer??
