Sooner or later you're gonna have to realize that Maschine is very much competition to the Ren. When you have a product stealing your existing and potential customers, that is huge competition! The fact that people are constantly comparing the two all over the internet, all over the world, is evidence enough. Everywhere you turn there's a Maschine vs Ren debate or question. Remember the hare that lost the race to the turtle because he didn't see the turtle as a real competitor?!

That is your assessment from using the two. I am puzzled why you believe I have to come to your realization.

I used the same two products and have a very different opinion..very valid opinion. Maschine is no competition for the Ren. The Ren is a workstation.....Maschine is a groove box. I don't care if millions of people compare the two products....mostly because they have nothing better to do. At the end of the day, the reality is that I would choose the MPC Ren or Studio over Maschine. Maschine offers nothing that would make me choose it over these new MPCs. But then again, I believe you heard me say that hundreds of times.

Maschine is only competition for the Ren if you choose to believe it is. So I would say to you....keep using it. Doesn't impact anything I am doing.

What your/my personal preference is has nothing to do with it, because someone else's preference could be completely different! Your comments are like someone that prefers Maschine saying the Ren is no competition. We both know that is asinine! Like you, I prefer the Ren over Maschine. But that doesn't mean that Maschine is incapable!

I prefer Pro Tools. Logic/Reaper/Cubase/etc offers nothing of interest for me to use them instead. But for me to sit here and say that those products aren't competitors because they don't do things the exact same way as Pro Tools or may not have every single feature/capability is just naive, when at the end of the day they all bring you to a common end result. What one person prefers over the other cannot take that away from any of the other products!

When you have Akai execs taking subliminal stabs at other products in interviews on multiple occasions, that is competition.

People aren't comparing them because they have nothing better to do. Many people are comparing them because they want to know with which item to part with their hard earned money. If you have a group of items in debate on which to spend your money on, then those items are COMPETING with each other for your money! Your opinion may say one thing, but the economics (facts) say another!

Yeah maybe at version 1.0-1.5, in 2009 - early 2010. It's 2013....

The point isn't whether you care about the comparison, it's whether or not the comparison is valid. And you know damn well it is, regardless that one product is a production environment in software that is your personal preference.

"people with nothing better to do..."

That's rich coming from you.

No it really isn't time to shut anything down. He made a ridiculous statement based in opinion not a realistic assessment of a competing products capabilities. This was pointed out by myself and two other posters. Simple as that.

agree its too early for paid updates, as soon as they iron out some of the annoying little things, many arranging and workflow issues then i will be happy to pay for an update but i dont feel we should pay for bug fixes as they should have been fixed before it was released.

i will say its getting tedious that people keep bringing maschine in to the forums, there is no competion, anyone that has the ren and actually uses it to properly will say this.

its not perfect yet but it will be. its made so so much difference to my productions and so so much creativity comes from it.

My personal preference is very valid. My statements that 'Maschine is no competition' and 'Maschine not relevant' in an OPINION. The FACT is Maschine isn't a capable product for my needs. I require a robust MIDI sequencer for hardware workstations/synths. Like nearly any model MPC...the Ren simply out performs Maschine in this regard (there are plenty of threads with specifics so I won't go into all the details). And now that the Ren/Studio 1.3 adds manual slicing via inserting/deleting slice markers with a mouse...Maschine is not worthy to be in the discussion IMO regardless of whomever wants to make their case.

Unlike some, I don't feel a need to visit a forum dedicated to another product to pitch my choice.

1.31 is released. 1.4 on the way....can't be a happier time for MPC Ren/Studio users. For those that don't care for these products...why are you here reading this?

but everyone knows that you don't actually make any music so could you please explain why you have such an urgent need for certain types of music gear?
