I went off d&b shortly after the turn of the century; it wasn't really the music I fell in love with any more.....I used to run a few labels you might have heard of like streetbeats.

Do you go on subvert central?

I actually fell out of the DnB scene right around 2002 for the same reason, as the main elements I loved about jungle (complex drums, clean boomy bass, and various elements from countless styles of music) went away. Seemed like the sound evolved into a much more electronic format and moved away from the analog samples, breaks, and atmos... About two years ago I got back into the oldschool style and decided to start producing it again regardless of the status quo.

I've definitely heard of streetbeats, if its the same one I remember! Haven't seen Subvert Central before, but will check it out. Is that your site?

Hi mate, yeh probably the same streetbeats - came out of vinyl distribution, and was the first label releasing photoek, peshay and source direct.

Subvert Central is a community of like minded heads, was kind of an alternative to the mainstream scene represented by dogs on acid. Started it as a forum for streetbeats, but quickly became much more than that.
