Ableton 9 and Push Controller looks great!!

599 of that is just for the push controller. I upgrade to suite for 199 back in 11/2012l

as much as I want to jump on this controller something is telling me to wait and see what the reviews say and actual users...i might just cough up for the update n see what happens with push...upgrade to suite 9, $250 by itself

I think that Ableton 9 has taken sampling to another level!!! But you got to have your chop game down for it to work right! Great software.

shame you can't slice and dice on a push.

Push is just an controller but of course you can slice and dice with ableton which took the recycle element and went miles ahead of it. Ableton uses warp markers so I should say get your wrap game right! The sound to midi conversion for harmony, melody, and drum like west coast replaying samples instead of east coast chopping down to hits.
Sort of like Dr Dre and DJ Priemier styles.

I just got mine from sweet water 2 days ago. I haven't had much time to mess with it but I did sample and chop up some samples.

Thing is very well made and I like the pads alot. I had my 6 yr old playing chords on it and programming a drum loop with the step sequencer. I can already tell it will Improve my workflow with Ableton.

How bright are the pad lights under high ambient lighting, like in a normally lit room or on stage with stage lights shining on it?

The APCs were pretty bad in these situations, very hard to see what the pad lights were doing.


What are the advantages of these over APCs, what can they do that the APC can't?

Push is an instrument, apc was a controller. Like I said I have had time to test it in lighting. I haven't even messed with the pad sensitivity either.

One of my favorite features so far is moving my finger side to side with synths for a whammy feel

What are the differences that make it an instrument instead of a controller?

major one would be velocity sensitvie buttons as in aftertouch

Good point but neither does an Mpc. To me, it's more than just a controller.
