MPC 60 II at last!!!

ok great. pardon the dumb question. I thought so but I have been reading a lot of stuff and I could've sworn something said something to that effect. I thought oh that would suck.


on another note about the 3.1 update

Sound Compression Doubles Sound Memory
This features resamples existing sounds in memory from the normal 40 kHz to 20 kHz, thereby fitting into half the memory space. This works surprisingly well for most sounds (not so well for cymbals). In an expanded MPC60 (26 seconds) containing all compressed sounds, that's equivalent to 52 seconds of sounds.

i like this feature here tho. This should make the 12 bit sound more pronounced. i think the sp 1200 is 12bit / 20khz or so while the mpc 60ii is 12/40khz.

just checking out the specs. I think I will do that upgrade at some point.

Im not sure how it works on 3.10, im in the same boat as you (sounds like a plan but not a priority in current life)

Anyhow, the s900 has something like that feature... it tends to work a lot better on kick drums... not so well on cymbals. It basically shaves the higher half of the frequency range to half the bandwidth... ie: they cut everything from the highs out...

not so sure how it works here though... it is probably destructive.. and it probably wont alias like the sp1200.


also, that thought about the 60 being changed to 16 bit... there was a mod like that for the s900 I believe.

There was, made by Marion Systems who also produced the MPC-SCSI for the MPC60. The 16bit Roger Linn upgrade for the MPC60 is dope, its called the MPC3000.

I have not heard anyone talk about the s900 with 16bit upgrade... and how it sounds or anything like that. I only read that such an upgrade existed at some point... I dont think I have ever seen one with the upgrade being sold.

dont worry I want the 12 bit and i think some of the 3.1 features seem dope but not a necessity. anyways im still exploring and learning my way around all things MPC 60II. thanks for all the help and input guys.

Don't forget, you can also use the 60 to develop the biceps, shoulders or chest...

I saw that ad on CL not too long ago. He had a Motif 6 to go with it back around November. Looked like a good deal and he was probably only 10 miles from me but the stickers kind of killed it for me.

Someone was selling one on here a few months ago. It had the 16bit upgrade, apparently you could toggle between 12/16bit at the startup somewhere. Always thought it would be such a boss of a sampler.

got my back light in the mail yesterday. waiting on my usb floppy emulator. may cop som new pads. not planning on using it until i get all of these things so i can upgrade it in one shot. then its on.
Also, got a homeboy that has a s900 in his closet. who knew?!
he is letting me hold it down indefinitely. shipping to me soon.

shit.. you are on a roll.. give that friend 50 bucks if the s900 works.. that is a good machine.

word. here I am telling him about my MPC 60II and he is telling me he has this s 900 in the closet. he fired it up and it works. says he hasnt touched it in 15 years. I've known cat for 13yrs.
he was my keyboard player in my band at one point and just an all around good friend. there's no telling what he's hiding in that damn closet.

im sure it works... but that floppy drive... O.o.... mine is screwed up. Although, I still use it sometimes for just sampling the one time and recording the result. Also the tone program is classic..

you gotta check that closet man.. maybe there is an e-mu product forgotten in there....
