If you open up a Ren program file with a text editor, you should be able to change Pad Note Number Assignment.

Still that doesn't change the fact that I cannot trigger pad a4 via any midi note.

Try again. Pad A04 should be triggered by Bb 4 on your keyboard.

when you're in chop mode using the q-links to adjust samples - the slice points will often randomly jump back to the previous chop point, making me have to scroll over back to its original spot. a real pain sometimes, and lengthens the process... another big thing for editing chops would be if it was set to one shot instead of note on.. or at least able to toggle between the two! peace

Akai MPC-Renaissance:

I haven't seen this before but I got it and it makes me mad. I Got an DC Offset when i'm exporting a Song as a wave. But In My MainSample (its from a vinyl record) and the Drums (all from the Akai MPC Ren) theres nowhere DC Offset in it.
Is it possible to make my own Presets (Filter, Effects, Plug-Ins) because everytime i want to copy a sequence its been saved but aithout all of my (Filter, Plug-In, Effect) Adjustments.

i don't know if its just me, or if this has already been discussed,but, I load up my mpc 2000xl beats on the REN and I noticed that the beats I used note variation sounds on to create melodies don't play out the melodies on the REN.

Also, when I load my sequences, ALL of the tracks on each seq. I load are all unmuted...smh.

Anyone noticed these bugs or its just me? I've spent weeks going through zips to get my beats working on this REN.

These annoying bugs are making me lose alot of hope for both my REN & Studio.
Is there a solution to these problems?

I ran into this too when using the hardware qlinks to turn it on. I found that if you turn the q-link all the way up and then adjust the value of the field below it (Output), it will switch to ON. I later found that this happens with many of the values in the plug-in parameters no matter which factory plug-in it is.

1. enter the edit screen of a factory plug-in

2. adjust a parameter with a q-link

3. adjust another value with a qlink and the value of the parameter you last adjusted will change. Sometimes it will happen only if you change another parameter right away, other times it will happen no matter what (i.e. old skool 'on').

this happens on every factory plug-in I tried...

This triggers for me whenever I delete a slice. All slices after that will appear to the left and the more I delete the farther to the left it goes...

Dragging a sample that is already loaded in Project information to a pad causes the pad to lose the sample assignment

1. Load a program and assign it to a track and note the name of the sample assigned to pad A1

2. Drag that same sample from the browser to Pad A1

3. The MPC software will warn that the sample is already loaded. Click 'replace', the Pad will no longer have the sample assignment

This happens on any pad, just used A1 for the walk through. I had a program loaded and was testing the 'drag a folder' feature and dragged the entire folder to the pads, got the warning, clicked replace, and all the assignments went away instead of just loading the newly dragged samples onto the pads.


Dragging a sample from Project Information to multiple pads and then dragging the same sample from the browser to a single pad will cause all pads with that sample to lose their sample assignments

1. Load a program and assign it to a track

2. From the Project Information pane, drag any sample from that program onto multiple pads (i.e. drag myKick to pads A1..A4)

3. In the browser, drag the myKick sample onto pad A1 and clicl 'replace' when prompted.

4. Pads A1 through A4 will lose the sample assignment

WOW!!! I was just laying down this beat, worked on the drums, made a mistake and pressed UNDO. Laid a hi hat down then pressed UNDO but felt it could stay BUT this **** REN won't REDO aaand it even took the hi hat AND the drums I was using out of the sample section...Akai WTF?? Your losing devoted MPC supporter here....

Qlinks controlling plug-in and record threshold value simultaneously:


1. open new project and insert a plug in on a master insert slot

2. shift+sample Rec

3. shift+effect

4. select Flanger plug-in, press edit

5. turn Q1 - threshold and plug-in value are being controlled simultaneously

Window with focus should have control...

Extreme values in Akai plugin knobs are difficult to get to, Hardware and Software. And in hardaware creates inconsistent values as oposed to the Software
Gonna try later at home with the studio to see if I get the same problem as with the Ren

Have you guys noticed any cpu-peaks while using filters in Program Edit -mode? Sometimes when I open a saved project, the sequence starts acting funny and cpu is peaking. The reason can be narrowed to a one sample in that project when you go through the samples.

The funny part is, if you turn off any filters in that particular sample, everything is fine again. Turn the filter back on and the cpu-peaks are there again...

Also the problem starts when you save the project, close the Ren, and open it again.

Mine does the same, sometimes the q links only adjust the sample wave on the MPC lcd and not on the wave on the PC monitor........the jumping back bit when sample trimming is really annoying.......I gave up today and turned it off!

Assign Slice assigning entire sample (loop) to pad instead of individual chop selected when Extract Region to New sample is 'Off'


Per the manual (manual v1.2..haven't seen it updated since...), "Assign Slice" is supposed to "...assign a single slice to a chosen Pad." If 'Extract Region to New sample' is activated the slice is extracted as a new sample, so I am assuming that if it is set to 'off' the region is not extracted but instead the original sample is retained, but the pad will only trigger the region that was selected with the pad (like a 'Sliced Sample')--(otherwise why have an option to turn it off??).

This is not happening....:


1. Load a two bar drum loop

2. Sample edit

3. Chop

4. Press the pad corresponding to a drum slice

5. Convert

6. 'Assign Slice' set 'Extract Region to New sample' to 'OFF'

7. [F5] Do it

8. Go to main and press pad A1....

The entire sample plays instead of just the region that was selected.

I just started playing my Ren this week. Love this thing. Haven't had any problems with it as far as software crashes. There is one thing that's kinda annoying and I don't know if its a bug or a faulty hardware.

When I turn on the Ren then turn in the software, my Ren doesn't get noticed. So I have to unplug the USB and plug it in again. This happened 3 times already. Does anybody else have this problem?
