MPC Studio up for review

I'll be in possession of a new MPC Studio for a few weeks to a month or so. Looking forward to testing and reviewing. Havent really kept up on Studio owners experiences. i know its the same MPC software so it'll be interesting to get my hands on it and dig it.

I'm open to try out / test things for those that are curious (time permitting). feel free to holla.

no vintage mode though.
looking forward to travel with it. After all it is the travel friendly MPC. not a big deal that I have to take a laptop with it.

If its as thorough as MPC-Tutors review of the Renaissance hardware, I will be looking forward to this. That thing just looks so damn slick, hope the software catches up before too long. Don't forget the MPC headphones now for your portable setup lol.

oh man. Tutor's Ren review was way thorough. thats a load of pressure.

but yea I will try and dig in and see what its really all about.

on the MPC Headphones. I actually wish i had a pair to check out.

i have to say i really like the Studio. looking forward to owning one of my own since this one must go back. I'll probably have the review up next week.

Its the MPC 3000 low pass filter. try it out. its on the REN (MPC SW) too. I really like it. i put it on everything. whole entire damn programs. its like my default.

well I wouldnt say iconic but it was more cool than i expected. I'm glad I've only experienced it from 1.3.1. Its safe to say I'll be copping one of these at some point.

ya iv had mine for a month or so and when i havent used the ren in a cpl days and have only been rocking the studio. its like a whole new world getting back on the ren.
other then the shift arrow keys for expanding sample. the ren just feels more fluid. i dig my studio and looks really smooth, but the ren is the truth.

I might be moving back to England this summer so I got to start selling off shit and downsizing my gear before the move. I thinking of getting the MPC Studio because if this. I just now finished reading the Future Music magazine review (March 2013 #263) on the MPC Studio.
It sounds pretty powerful for portability but there were some things in the review that still got me wondering if this is for me (I'm not downplaying the Studio, this is from someone else's review):
1) no numeric pad to enter data
2) no tilt screen
3) no way to turn the display off to prolong the backlight
4) no volume control
5) some of the buttons are squishy, if you press them too hard they get stuck under the panel
6) No audio outs to route to a mixer (Is it really needed? It's not a standalone MPC unit.)
7) When mapped to Logic, the MPC software would lose beat sync and be off.

@ psr... since you are doing a review of the Studio, can post your opinions on these issues? Cheers mate!

1. the 16 pads double via shift button as numeric pad
2. true this is an issue. i really noticed this most when outside
3. true but there is a power button or like any usb controller device just disconnect it when not in use
4. def on of my listed cons. also common on usb controller devices
5. GTFOH I read that part of the review and I messed w/ the buttons to specifically see for myself. who does that? I had to press really hard and move the button slightly over simultaneously when fully pressed down hard to make that happen. really who does that? you have to try hard to make that happen. those buttons feel nice. bang on pads. press buttons. simple.
6. no need. neither does machine. File - export is your friend
7. not when i tried it. I made a track with a few Papen synths and mpc sw in logic. it rocked. but i will test with more than a 8 bar loop later and report back.

my review is up. i think its a solid joint. really like it

Nice review. I'm going to get either the Studio or Maschine MK2. I already have Komplete 7 and just received an email offer to upgrade to Komplete 9 for $149. I know that Maschine integrates well and runs smoothly with Komplete. In your opinion/experience how well does the Studio integrate/perform with Komplete?
