Adjusting your turntable's anti-skate correctly

I just did this and oh shit it sounds so much better, I can't believe this.
If you haven't adjusted the anti-skate on your turntable do it asap, find a record that has one of the two sides completely blank, drop the needle on it and keep adjusting the anti-skate until the needle doesn't start to glide left or right but stays exactly where you put it.

i've always just floated the arm with the counterweight, then adjusted so it doesn't move there.

Didn't the adjusting the tone arm settings had anything to do with sound quality just stability so needle don't skip while scratching.

it could affect the sound - for example making one channel louder than the other.

they are pretty finnicky and every little bit you can do to make it a perfect system will alter the sound slightly - this is mechanical afterall.

its nice however the anti skate setting vary depending on your needle and cartridge of choice

wouldnt that method set it up too neutral?

a spinning record pushes the needle towards the middle (so the outer part of the groove gets more pressure than the inner part), don't you need to counteract that force?
