Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

I just completed an experiment with my mpc4000. I installed a combo dvd-rom/cdrw drive. I then burned a cd on my mpc to test. It works fine. I then burned an iso9660 data dvd of all my mpc sounds stored on my computer. It works great.

Now you can import all your beats to computer, and back up to just one disc.

just wanted to let every body know the deal. I used an apple branded combo drive, but I bet almost any drive will work.

Isn't a DVD/CD burner / reader a combo drive as well?
I was planning to get a USB one to use with the 4K.

I plan on getting one from BestBuy. They allow returns indeed.
Not writing to DVDs won't be a big deal cause I'll just do it from my computer like you did. And as long as the 4K reads them and burn regular CD's I'll be str8 with that.
I hope the USB DVD drive works. Cause if it does, I'll replace the CDRW drive that's currently in the 4K with a 120gig hard drive. So then I'll have 2 hard drives on board totalling 240gigs. I read here that we may get audio tracks in the next OS...I just hope that these tracks can be written and streamed from hard disk rather than then just to the limited 512meg RAM limit.

MPC's don't support DVD, let's get that str8. Cd was burned on MPC. DVD was burned on PC/MAC. Dont' read into it wrong. You know peeps are going to read into it wrong whatever wording you use. It's just the way of the world.

I understood it.
