what kind of mixer would be best for the mpc 2k? a dj mixer might be less, but is a studio mixer alright too? i know its my choice, but what would ya'll recommend?

It really depends on what you want the mixer for, what you need it to do, there are many different configurations of mixer.

8 output expansion board --->8 channel snake---> Tascam 488 (or even better the Tascam 688). These aren't the best mixers on earth but it's nice having that parametric eq. Tascams seem to hold up a little better than the behringers anyway.
