Saving Individual Parts as midi files

wassup people?

Can someone explain to me if the following is possible and if so how it can be done:

If I sequenced a bassline in midi on my mpc 2000 on track 1 of sequence 1, how can I get that bassline riff (in midi) to lay down in a midi track in Logic - so I can apply it to soft synths.

I hope I am making sense. if not let me know and i'll explain it deeper.

any help is much appreicated.

i think the easiset way would be to make sure that the track you want is on its own sequence and then save that sequence as a midi file.

What you can do ..... & this is fun ..... is make up a sequence with a few different tracks on the MPC. Name the tracks clearly, save them, transfer that midi file to your computer & drop it into a Logic arrange window. It neatly spreads the different MPC tracks into separate Audio Instrument tracks.

I don't have a MPC 2000 but from the previous post what they are saying is:

1. Save Midi file on MPC to zip disk

2. Put zip disk in your computer.

3. In Logic/Cubase/MasterTracksPro/ProTools/PalmPilot Sequencer, what ever
your sequencer is, load it up and into the program (person above is saying that
can drag and drop it.). In Cubase, the option is File > Import > Midi File
you'll have to find the equivalent as for Logic.

Yes, providing you have a zip drive on your MPC & computer:
1: Save your MPC sequence to zip. That single sequence will be a midi file. You don't need to do any sort of format conversion to this file.
2: Transfer that zip disk to your computer.
3: Drag the midifile to the desktop. On a Mac it will probably have a Quicktime document icon.
4: Then just drag it onto an open Logic arrange window.
