Does the 4K support USB DVD burners?

I want to buy an external USB2 DVD-RW/ CDR-RW burner for my computer and the 4K as well (if it supports it that is). But before I pick it up, I'd like to know if anyone here has managed to burn a CD-R or RW using a DVD burner? I'm pretty sure we won't be able to burn DVD's but will the 4K read and write regular CD's from a DVD burner?

You will not be able to burn dvd's, but you might be able to read them.

How about writing CD's?

Yes. This is possible. But the MPC acts weird when a DVD is hooked up and Sean said it was not advisable.
So I wouldnt do it... And whats the advantage anyway?

For you who doont know yet:
An USB hub does work with the MPC4k! So you can hook up a qwerty keyboard, an USB stick, an USB HD, an USB cdrw, you can give USB gear power (like mentioned in previous thread) etc etc... all thru the single rectangle USB port on tha front of the 4k.

i wouldnt do that. I did this also in the beginning and things went wrong
Instead invest another 50 bucks or so in an external USB cdrw drive for your MPC. And use the DVD for the compy only and only for the compy.

MPC4k has USB 1.1. Allmost all USB DVD drives are USB 2.0 and MPC doesnt support DVD Seriously, get it out of your head!

Dude! Calm down. If he wants to try it he will try it. I have had success with a dvd-rom drive installed inside. I think the dvd drive will work for him, barring dvd burning

And try it I will!!! Once I do, I'll report back with my findings.
