Hey fellow jjos'ers. Not sure if I'm doing this correctly. In some of my sequences, sometimes the mixer responds to volume changes and sometimes it doesn't. I need to find out if it's my problem or the MPC's. Am I missing something?

I am routing 2 out of the main mixer and also 2 through outputs 1 and 2. There's also this thing that acts funny, say I have a snare going out of output 1, if that track is displayed on the screen, then the snare won't hit. When I toggle to a new track it hits.

One more thing I have a problem with is I finally got a S/PDIF and started recording into the MPC. So i'm running from my audio interface out into the MPC. I successfully recorded one track directly into my sequence view using audio track. Then I tried again and it no audio showed up when I recorded. Any potential solutions? Thanks in advance.

I got the audio track to record again. I'm not sure what I was doing differently. I think it's just one of those things when you're working with something for too long and you neglect obvious things.

I'm still trying to work my way through the outputs. I was only using main outs before and am seemingly only complicating things by trying to get a more in depth mix.

Tell us what you did.

Heads up:
Connecting both the s/pdif in and out at the same time can cause issues.
Just make sure everything (master and slave) is clocked and locked at 44100.

A number of times I've been working on a track and everything has sounded fine, but the issue only rears it's head when you reload your project; mad skewed sample rate issues that can't be fixed.... you have to start ur project again

Obliged Jimmie. I was dealing with Pad 4 and Pad 8 which was the confusion. I simply hit shift/pad 7 and began working on individual drum sounds instead of entire tracks. The hierarchy layout of the mixing seems very confusing and the manual isn't entirely clear to me. Just takes some poking around as does a lot of mpc learning in my experience.

So shift/pad 7 -> out/fx it seems the left side effects the same kit no matter what sequence you use it with. On the sequence track mixer on the right it only effects the particular sequence you're mixing. Makes a lot more sense after I copied a 2 bar sequence and with trial and error seeing what kind of changes are made to the second sequence.

I have one little issue with recording into the mpc and I've read about this being a problem. So I want to make a 1 bar loop recording. I'm taking the sample from Ableton. The tempo is the same on the mpc and I import it via usb cable. Now there is a small gap at the end of the loop that takes the groove way. So the only way I can make up for this is chopping the sample and making it slightly different which I'm not against. I'm just seeing if there is a way to get a loop to play exactly as it does as it is heard in say ableton or any other DAW.

I don't deal with S/PDIF out, only in. How would you use the S/PDIF out?
