that roland mixer will only work with a specific type of turntable (one that has line out - most do not).
the asr is going to be $500 minimum, likely more.
DO NOT USE ZIP DISCS.
your turntable doesn't have to go in reverse - you can always reverse the sample later.
i would get any turntable you can find, and if it does not have line out, you will need a preamp. you can find a new preamp for $25 or you can find a DJ mixer - they have 'phono preamps' in them.
a phono preamp is different than a regular preamp. you need a phono one with most turntable.
don't spend a lot of money because you have a lot to learn and you will be able to upgrade what you find you need later.
i would get a cheap turntable from a thrift store / garage sale.
get off ebay.
