I want an SP 1200 but damn!!

regarding declaration value it cannot be lower the insurance value unless you want to take a huge risk and not insure it but with high value items like the sp1200 I would not recommend it, insure if you are shipping guys.

Im Actively searching trying to find the right one, sooner or later I will.

Is there a reason you would not consider an early black reissue, 'if' it does have a linear power supply?

Good point, some of the earlier reissues also have the linear power supply. Truth is, there are far less grey SP1200s from the original production run in 1987. I wouldnt be surprised if only 20-25% of all SP1200s still out there are OG grey.

I wouldnt let the power supply specification dictate my choice of SP, one that works and has no known issues is better than having nothing. But given the choice I'd go with a clean grey model, I prefer the original scheme to the black.

I like the fresher look of the black reissue, can leave the grey scheme for the SP12/EII style.

The dude i was hooking my SP1200 form turned out to be a scammer. Called up PayPal and they said I'd def get the money back.
Sucks that i passed up on another SP that only was 50 euros more.

That's a bold move! The sequencer is poles apart between the SP and MPC.

Well its a money question. Cant have both at the moment. Ill rebuy a MPC later on if i feel the urge.
SPs are hard to come by, a MPC is a piece of cake. (tho my mpc60 was minty as heeell, never gonna find one as ncie as it)


And i think the SP will suit my style nicely. (when i finally get it )

I hope so. A lot of people out there are so busy singing the SP1200s praises, but they are reluctant to highlight what the downsides are compared to an MPC60. If I could only have one, it would probably be the MPC60 to be honest. For the price of an SP1200 you could have an MPC60 and an SP12 Turbo, seriously worth considering if money is tight.

Last summer I picked up an akai mpc60... for 250.00 of cl..came with a bunch of disks..was real clean and had the updated 0s...was at a church...then 3 weeks later a akai mpc 60ii came up for 200.00 i ended up selling both to fund other gear

I think it will, lately ive been letting my s950 do most the work and the mpc60 do some adds when either polyphony or memory in the s950 (non expanded mem) runs out. So i think this will work well with my style.
Im a fan of not just the drums of the sp, but also the ringing sound, something a turbo would be quite tight memorywise. Tho a 60 and a turbo is indeed one way to go.

In the future im probably gonna look for a 3k instead of the 60 tho. The sound of the 60 is to me inferior to the s950, which ill keep. a 3k would make more sense to make more "clean" beats.

Yeah I saw that, went for a decent price with a flightcase and library. Was wondering if one of you guys lucked out and copped it. Thought about it myself, but already spent a fat wad last week after flipping my Drumulator on SOS.

Yes, I was watching that too, but I'm also waiting for a linear power supply SP1200, preferably one that just has the big-ass, fat SP1200 text on the back (looks cool as fck)... so I didn't bid on it... also I don't like to bid against zero-feedback bidders anyway.... unless it's a grey original ofc:P

There was a Canadian, grey SP1200 but shipping and import tax stopped me bidding, plus it din't have the big SP1200 text on the back.

I just won an mpc3000 though!
