Where Do you get your Drum kits from

I like to sample my kits BUT I will use commercial kits to layer samples. I like to use an 808 snare or clap layered with a sampled snare just to give it a bit of originality.

I also like to listen to drum solo albums, I have a few but won't give off the names from rock, indie, metal etc and sample from those.

Many of the breaks have been rinsed, so I avoid them unless layering. All of the popular commercial vinyl from back in the day has been abused for breaks but there's still plenty from far afield you just have to get creative.

I'm never against using commercial kits, but it is fun to dig samples and use them raw or layer them up. Run them through another piece of hardware, I like to run my drums through the SP1200 gives them a nice warmth. I've even ran them through VHS and tape (I did a thread on it some time ago).

everywhere. sometimes its vinyl sometimes its from drum kits sometimes its from construction kits sometimes its from addictive drums or a maschine preset drum sound but overall I really get them from everywhere,

I sample my Roland R8 MKii running thru the Focusrite Platinum Compounder.... Sounds AMAZING!

If I had to GUESS i would say those drums are from a live recording session then chopped resampled layered with dust cuz you can hear it....

Take everybodys drums and stack em compress em resample em 12 bit em just make your own thats why you have a sampler/drumachine right?

I tried downloading a sample pack once and didnt unzip the thing right so I have to this day to use a preset... Sad but true. ..

i stopped downloading kits or sample packs a while ago. now i try to get every sound i use from a record. For instance, I sampled quite a few breaks, threw them in a folder and then chopped individual hits from these sources, I kinda made me my own drum kit
