cant you just boost the volume, like from 0dB to 6dB, but reduce the other sounds accordingly?

Track volume is not GAIN. Mixer window is basically the same as track volume. I would say GAIN comes in the chain before volume, but there's no gain.

Mr. Supreme Monitor dude... Your comments alone qualify you as a rookie. Increase in volume is gain. So when I increse track volume I increase the gain. Seems simple enough...guess not....

on a mixer there are gain and volume controls...

in the end you both are right.

you can increase the volume, then adjust the other tracks accordingly. however; i dont think that will be enough. You need to toss it in a sample editor to enhance it some more.

Use a tighter filter; Re EQ-boost some ish. Maybe even add some dynamics.

What's this got to do with diggin? Noob skool..... pah!

It was a bit harsh, but I've seen a few people mislead in here also. Not this post, but others. At one point someone actually suggested mastering involves seperate tracks. Now, that wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't have 1000+ posts. That's like saying you know about cars but have no idea what an engine is...

When you sample whatever it is that's going to be your bass, turn the bass way up on your eq before you sample it. In the PROG screen, parameters, turn your lowpass filter down below 10 and turn your resonance up, tell me what you hear.... get back to me!

That's constructive help right there. I'm no pro at samplers (yet... yall watch the f*** out in about a year tho). It's not the only constructive help on this post, but after the childish whining in the rest of this post, it's a breath of fresh air. Big ups to Toecutter.

yeah those work just fine.... for reducing the volume of a track or sample. Not much good for increasing the gain!

Of course you can work around this (I know -I have to pull some weird tricks all the time to get the sound I want as I'm working solely with the mpc..) but that wasn't the point. Well, at least you made an impression right away! Congratulations!

Ok Im new to tha MPC thing Im eventually going to purchase an MPC, but Iv'e been using the PC to make my beats Im real good on it, and I chop my samples on the pc, can I chop my samples on the pc, and bring them into the MPC? I got a lot of sounds, and I wanted to know what do I have to do to use them in the MPC?

awful lot of chatter and it still doesn't look like the gain issue was dealt with. The "gain" parameter is found in the "multi-effect 1" window in the "distortion" patch. You can use it to apply anything from mild increases in volume to full out face searing overdrive.
