Here's a simple bug (with a simple workaround, but a bug nonetheless):

A pad should mute its previous playing sample slot when it's hit again and it's set to MONO playback (the pad, not the program).
I.e. there's no case where, say, a single stereo sample on a pad should ever use up more than 2 of the available polyphony slots.

But if there's an envelope on the sample, decay or release, the MONO mode will not mute that sample. Say there's a sample with 100 release setting, if you do a roll on that pad, it will still fill up the available polyphony.

BUT thankfully there's a simple workaround:
If you go to the MUTE options pane, you just have to set the pad itself as one of its own mute targets. That way, it all works as expected.

could help to know this if you seem to be magically running out of polyphony for an unknown reason

I tried it with a mono sample set to one shot , voice to mono and NO envelope :
the sample mutes itself but takes the polyphony up to 3 if i play a roll on it.

With the envelope ON it's the same...

With a stereo sample the polyphony goes up to 5 eventhough everything is set to mono and even with the pad itself set as target in the MUTE window...

So , is the voice monitor not following up the instruction or is the machine really taking 3 voices of polyphony for ONE sample played repeatedly ???

Good point sciguy....

If there is a stereo voice it is 2 polyphony. If you give it release then that has to play so hence extra voices when set to mono. The notes are overlapping because of your AMP envelope settings. Least that is how I see it, and makes perfect sense to me and does not seem like a bug.

No it doesn't make sense at all....I don't see how the envelope of a sample could mean more polyphony ???

Voice monitor says 3 for a mono sample and 5 for a stereo sample (again when pad is hit repeatedly) weather the envelope is set on or off and with sample AND program voice set to MONO.

Try it for yourself and you'll see

Don't know if it's a bug either but in any case that's weird...

Yes, using the AMP envelope should layer and use up more polyphony...

IF the pad is on POLY mode.

But the way it is now, even if the pad is on MONO, it will still eat up polyphony. I think that if a pad is set to MONO, there is no reason it should use more than 1 polyphony slot (or 2 for a stereo sample, or more if there are multiple different samples layered, but whatever, you know what I mean)

So I got a reply from JJ. He says that pads will momentarily overlap voices when re-triggered, to prevent any clicks from replaying a sample.

However, this is not what I am referring to. I realized my original example I had given him didn't explain what I mean very well, so I came up with these specific steps to make the bug I found obvious:

1. Load a sample of a synthesizer, a long note. (I have included the sample I used in this email)
^^^^ this is what I said in the email; I attached the sample I used just so that it was 100% reproducible. It should work with any sample, though a long single note works best in this example.

2. Assign this sample to a pad
3. Set playback mode to ONE SHOT, MONO
4. Set AMP envelope Decay to 100
5. Set LFO shape to Square
6. Set LFO rate to 2.00
6. Set LFO Pitch depth to 100

This makes the bug really clear. The LFO makes the note cycle between 2 pitches. When a pad is set to MONO, with these parameters, you should never hear 2 pitches at once.
However, if you hit the pad described above once, then again a beat later, for the whole duration of the delay envelope, two voices are used up, which you can easily hear because the two pitches from the LFO overlap.

edit: alright, got another reply, the programmer has been informed of the bug.

I don't know if it's the same thing (I guess so), but as I have MONO program "play" and I have synth/osc looped samples on drum program, it acts like:

when release is set to zero ? than program voice is MONO (1)
as a turn the release to more than 0 > well it does have more voices, but my sound gets quite longer than original.. notes are overlapping, true but just over release of a previous note, not note itself, they are muted as new note come) and I hear all of notes have my release setting..

As I understand this bug -repairing will bring my programs and sequences to stuttering notes with abrubt cuts over notes.. ending with "great" release on last note.. until another note

I see you mention one-shots, did not notice that as I rarely use them, but actually release and decay makes one shots shorter than original, like envelope is aplied between start and ending of the original sample (if the interval is shorter than original sample's lenght -to me that makes sense of increased nuber of voices) . This is not the case when samples are set to "note on" (there whole envelope is aplied from start of the sample to 4 bars - release 100)
