like i said in the other topic if you own an mpc 1k try to use bit grunger (7-8) over a kick, then resample and re-use it

i also forgot to mention, its good to do a slight hpf to the original track, so now you have your bass isolated on the 'doubled track'. this essentially gives you a bunch of leeway to play with your bass sounds on the doubled track without having to worry about it being tethered to your main melody samples.

One bass tip is to distort your bass a bit or use waveforms more complex than a pure sine wave, and then filter it. If you just use a pure sine wave you'll find their isn't a whole lot to grab on to and laptops and crappy speakers will have no chance to hear it. Sure, your club subs and car boomers will hear it, but... shape ur mix for the context it'll be played in I guess. Different bass for different uses.

Do a club mix and a laptop mix...

Loop the square or saw wave /or combined around A1 or A0 or lower + LPF + attack on env. and filter envelope. Just set the smallest loop on literally any sample until you hear "weird noises" + LPF etc.

Get a guitar and pitch it down. Play that hungry street rebel kid type shit and don't delay.

Sorry for the newbie question here but how does one tweak the ADSR of their samples? This is THE feature I am not too sure how to crack into on the MPC.

I am using JJOS1, by the way. Is this only do-able in OS2?

Very clever to use tape to remember ya scale - visual aids help a lot of people. I will use this probably but on the keys themselves.

Ive had my MPC 1000 Midi synced to my virtual instruments for years.Mainly for basslines via midi channels/synth plug-in thru daw.Although easy to setup,it was a hassle to get it sounding right and then boucing the audio to add to my tracked out MPC beat.Recently i tried sampling myself playing the bassline straight into the MPC and it sounded better to me.It sat well on top of the drums and worked well with the sample (after a lil hp filter).I can also edit further into the MPC and i can track it out with the rest of my beat coming out of the machine.Imma dig deeper into this method and try to get the best sound possible.I had to downsize my setup due to my living situation so i kinda had no choice.Anyways id like to know if anyone is using this method or your thought between the 2.

i too have started doing this. i'll play whole phrases on bass, guit, or sax then chop and assign to a pad. it fits better in the mix and it's nice to get down to the business of making music rather than pushing little squares around endlessly. so now it's 15% real playing, 85% square pushing.
