Wow why does this not surprise me?! First I see that there is an iMPC update and I get a little excited like "hey maybe they actually made this app a little more usable" then I get let down because its a Fly compatibility update which just tells you that they released this app way too early being that they've been advertising it as "for use with the MPC Fly" since jump. F#%king ridiculous. :fku: Akai. Btw yes I couldn't even finish the update like you guys. Same problem.

Can't even use it at the mo, it's stuck in perpetual upload. I've got a few hours work on in that app and if I have to delete it and reload it and loose all my work I'll be seriously F,^*+d off.

Are you guys doing the update over wifi or 3G? On bigger apps over 150MB sometimes you have to do it on desktop. I've had numerous apps freeze at 80% over wifi update. I just give up and do it through iTunes on the desktop.

I would normally agree, and you could be right, but I've had Garageband, Beatmaker2, numerous synth apps and others do the exact same thing over wifi. Perhaps it's a ton of users all trying to update at once and Apple's servers bug out. You can tell on desktop they don't give much bandwidth as apps download at nowhere near the speed of my connection.

Yeah you're right something is wrong. This is the first time I got an error message on one of these freezes. "iMPC could not be installed.." Only other time I've seen that message is trying to update/install a non iOS 5/iPad 1 compatible app, which is of course understandable.

I was just able to successfully update using the iMPC download I made to iTunes earlier today. I didn't even bother erasing the frozen one actually.

The splash screen is now a picture of the Fly rather than a Renaissance, and I would not put it past them to have only changed that and the Fly compatibility was already in there.

...and the news ticker at the top of the app (I hate that sort of thing BTW) is saying "Trouble getting iMPC update..."

Follow it and it leads to a pdf saying to hook to iTunes etc. May as well delete your stalled one first as per the instructions, in case you aren't as lucky as I got. (I also did not create a new backup, I simply synced and it was fine after the standard device reset/reboot)

Yeah as I investigated further and did my own update I was like what the...

I hadn't actually saved anything in the standalone so I skipped the backup part. But glad to hear that it worked for you and you didn't lose data.

I can't lie, while the app is usable with some workarounds, I just can't bring myself to even use it. My main thing is loading my own samples, once I saw that if I loaded 100 samples it would just be in a list and folders were impossible, I was done right there.
