Retronym's Statement -
"I want to share the latest info on the iMPC update issue so you know what we are working on.
I want to start by saying I hate these kinds of problems. I hate that musicians had to experience them. iPads promised to reduce these install and update problems and it's one of the reasons we embrace them.
Over the last few weeks we have been working on making the iMPC app work flawlessly with the MPC Fly. I think the Fly is pretty damn cool. Not only is it nice to have physical hardware controls, it allows you to do some things like velocity and aftertouch (great with note repeat).
We also addressed a few small bugs and added a tip to help users learn the 'hold record, then press play' MPC workflow. (Some new users could not figure out how to record when they first got the app).
After testing everything with Akai and making sure it was perfect we sent the build to Apple. Apple approved the update and we told them to release it to you!
This is where things get messy. We started getting reports that the AppStore upgrade was hanging. Customers were angry. Nasty reviews were written. We immediately tried to reproduce the issue. Finally we found an iPad at the office that was displaying the problem people were talking about. We emailed Apple, filed technical support issues with them and are still waiting to hear some kind of resolution.
The AppStore manages installs and upgrades. The iMPC app doesn't even run until you open it. While that progress bar is running, we don't get any chance to help it along or stop it. We still don't know what could cause this. We will keep digging.
A day later some users are still stuck in the update process. However the problem seems to have resolved itself for others. The majority of customers successfully updated. The solution at blog.retronyms.com seems to work for everyone else.
Meanwhile the iMPC community is still going strong. We are about to reach 1 million sessions. More importantly people are writing fantastic beats! Over 10 thousand have been posted to SoundCloud.
While we dig in and work on our next update we really need the help of the community right now. AppStore reviews, tell a friend or just share a new beat on SoundCloud. All of this things keep us going and help us do our part to make the iMPC community great.
Thanks everyone,
Dan

I really don't like that no where in there is "Tell us your feature requests and let us know where we dropped the ball thus far..."
They say they "need" us to advertise the app for them? Whatever, make it something that I don't have to literally warn people about then. Retronyms/Akai are lucky the average score has only dipped to 3 stars at this point.
But if they want my 2 star review I'll give it to them.
