I really thought the Ren would be able to do this - u know its 2013...

I'm talking about changing sequences (using the pads) For example I hit the pad to change to another sequence in real time at position 2.3.4 and the next sequence plays from 2.3.4 instead of 1.1.0.

This is very good for off the cuff live arranging and can result in some pretty cool stuff happening. This is definitely do-able so Im shocked this is not a feature - but maybe I have missed something?

Agreed 100%. This is one of my favorite feature requests (was it you or someone else who made this request months ago?). This will allow DJ-styled beat juggling.

An improvement I would like to see is how the Ren changes sequences in this mode. The first beat of the next sequence isn't played.

But I must give props to Akai for fixing the annoying bugs in this mode for 1.3. I haven't seen forum members discuss the Hold and Sudden functions prior to 1.3. They were not working to the spec of hardware MPCs.

Nah wasnt me a few months ago.
Good to know someone else is interested in this.
It really is a very creative feature.

I have some plugins that can operate like that - and I have felt it would have been cool if MPCs would do this. Not so great if a track is made using loops, but if their suitably cut up some magic can happen.
I came to the Ren at 1.3 so dont know what it was like at ver 1.0. I thought the sudden feature would do it, but you have to be spot on with your timing and its just not the same as properly quantised move around to any bar/beat/sequence at any time you wish.
You have a hotline to the peeps at Akai - Im assuming you have forwarded this request :smoker:

I cant be expected to read the entire forum

You don't have to. But if you did, you will see that quite a few forum feature requests have been added with each update. More forum feature requests are projected for the next update. This is why Beyonce' (aka call me Mrs. Carter if your nasty) is so excited about the Ren.

I don't recall exactly who discussed it as I thought it was you. Regardless, this great idea was submitted to Akai on 5 Oct 2012.

Edit....come to think of it...it may have been discussed in the Gear Slutz forum.
