Honestly I never needed audio tracks in any mpc. What's the point when I have ProTools, or even some other very basic DAWs that can accomplish what I want to do with audio tracks easily. Audio tracks should be the last thing Akai adds, as they still need to get this thing working as a sampler, plugin host, bugs fixed, more sampler features, workflow improvements. All of those are way higher priority than audio tracks. SO MUCH that needs to get ironed out before they even think of adding audio tracks. The software is not even close to being ready or stable enough for audio tracks. Asking for that feature right now you must be crazy lol.

But I want to make songs, not just beats... I want to be able to make changes after vocals recorded, without exporting individual tracks, go back and forward to different pieces of software, etcetera... I get your point, but still, also akai should be wanting to move to the next level...from beat making to song making, else u could just as well buy any other mpc, and make tracks in pro-tools.. If I was akai I wouldn't like the fact, playing a small roll in the song making process, while still dependant on other software...
I do understand the points being made, and they should leave the ability just using it as a pure mpc, but what's the unique selling point of the renaissance then? That the computing power is limited to your pc/laptop capabilities? U might as well buy and use an mpd in fruityloops or reason....(finally understand why reason doesn't support vst's by the way)
maybe its best if they restrict.DAW capabilities just to song-mode leaving the rest as it is...

Agree with you two. :-D
Agree for priorities : Things to improve before audio tracks. All the lists are already been made and progress. For the Ren being the best MPC "Renaissance" without audio tracks.
For sure, the audio tracks will involve, as it has been already said, a door open for a tremendous list of DAW like features request. But may be it must never end ?

Yeah Holland I hear ya. You would be happy with some basic audio, but the pressure would soon mount for nAkai to get with programme and get all dawed up.
But I think their going to do it anyway. So theres no point in me getting on a soap box about it.

If you add audio tracks the MPC software becomes a DAW. It then gets compared to other software in it's price range. It then becomes a half-assed DAW when compared the heavyweights on the market. I then dies. Numark should stay in their lane.

It can if Akai chooses to go that route and invest in the product line. There are numerous DAWs on the market....some that have been established long ago and some fairly new:
1. Pro Tools
2. Nuendo/Cubase
3. Logic
4. Digital Performer
5. Reason
6. Studio One
7. Live
8. FL Studio
9. Sound Forge
10. Cake Walk/Sonar
11. Mixcraft
12. Acid
13. Reaper

And I am sure I have left some out. Studio One has been out less than half the time of the leading DAWs yet is just as powerful. Reason and FL Studio weren't even DAWs a few years ago.

And quite frankly, the Ren doesn't need to compete with the leading DAWs. I have Pro Tools and Logic. Pro Tools lagged behind Logic and Cubase for music composition for a long time. And there are producers that still compose with Logic and mix in Pro Tools.

Personally, I didn't buy Pro Tools or Logic to compose. Those two products are just tape recorders and mixers as far as I am concerned. I would much rather make a beat on an MPC like so many others here. Now give me a Ren with audio tracks and an improved mixer and I would never need Pro Tools or Logic.

And in my opinion...it is not IF the Ren will have audio tracks....it's a matter of WHEN. It's ownly logical that audio tracks will be added at some point. At that point, the Ren will be a DAW. Half-assed DAW? It will be up to each individual to decide that for themselves. The Ren is already better than all the DAWs mentioned for 'making beatz.' That is why we made then $1000 investment in it.

In the DAW arena "iconic MPC workflow" taglines won't save Numark from their half-assed "it's good enough" way of doing things. It would DOA with the first buggy release.

Its a performance instrument - not a click fest Daw.

Actually, those are exactly my points of view. Just because it runs on the same machine it doesn't have to do all the crazy things you can do with Logic or any other DAW. Of course, it still lacks some features that would be far more than a nice-to-have (like e.g. internal sidechaining), but I didn't get the Ren to replace my DAW or production environment. Yes, I made it the centerpiece of my production studio, but that's where it belongs IMHO.

Of course - audio tracks would be nice. But honestly, the 900 € / $1300 would be spent better on something different, if you really need audio tracks. Why not get Cubase, an iCon controller and an MPD instead? Sometimes I get the feeling people buy a Fiat and expect it to roll like a Ferrari...

Most of us have DAWs. But why would anyone want to open up a second app when there is potential to do a majority of music production in a single app? I find arguments against audio tracks hilarious. Most workstations worth having include audio tracks.

Basic audio tracks are cool for tracking out your beats into audio files inside the Mpc Ren, that would eliminate any need for a 2nd program, that is.. if all you use is protools, logic, etc for, is to track out your beats. But to the dudes talking about they want to record vocals in the Ren, if they add audio tracks in the Ren, dont expect them to be anywhere near as flexible as some daws like logic n protools. I agree 100% audio tracks would be great, but for vocals in the Ren I dont know, I see the audio tracks in the Ren being more of a composing tool. If you want to record vocals I dont see the Ren coming close to some other daws.

i know what its like starting with a Daw at version 1. Never again will I put my self through that ****.

From the Akai product page, one of the MPC Software features is to be "your main DAW", whether you like it or not, one of the Ren's main purposes is to be a DAW...

MPC Software

Works alone as your main DAW or works seamlessly with your current studio as a VST, RTAS, or AU plugin

They have always advertised it as being a DAW.

How can you have a main DAW without being able to record audio tracks?

Please Akai develoers make the Ren able to make me a thai massage with 1.4, and if you can the ability to insert 20 box in the input for an exotic style blowjob.

:WTF:

Like a said in the other topic there is much more shit to wipe out before even thinkin about this audio tracks crap.

Just started using the Ren seriously as plug in in Logic and im missing alot of basic midi and routing functionality.

The first that come in my mind is the inexistence of mono tracks...god job Akai really :fku:

Anyway this missing features have been discussed to death and people still asking audio tracks, i have started thinking that maybe we diserve the Ren as half finished buggy tools, maybe is just a toy for kids, maybe i should sell this Renny Tranny get a 4000 and cancel from my mind this section of the forum.
