i use logic for mixing, its also really great for composing/midi too though. i used to make all my beats with it, then in conjunction with logic/mpc, and now i have been using just the mp lately and just mixing in logic.
im still using logic 8 and see no need to upgrade yet, it works great for everything, and it comes with a bunch of good plugins and instruments right out of the box too, learn it and you will really start to like it!
i was schooled on how to mix in protools, but i just took all that info and applied it to logic, i couldnt be happier, i really dont like using protools at all anymore.
one thing you should check though if you havent, change your metering from exponential to linear. for some reason the default metering setup in logic is exponential while with every other daw in the world its linear. if your making a change from a different daw to logic, this will help you get used to it alot faster!
there is just 1 box you have to untick and it will remember your setting for the rest of the time, just do a quick search of changing logics metering and you should find it.
