He's not an Akai employee. Just an over zealous fan who is an unpaid beta tester.

But yes InspectahEX your post pretty much covers it. Clearly it upsets him greatly to have others have issues he doesn't, and all he can think to do is feebly try to paint the users with the issue as liars, stupid or...I don't even know it's just so ungrounded.

When he can't offer any input on a particular issue, this is what he does, trolls the shit out of the thread while accusing everyone else who is having a normal exchange as trolls. Always a calculated effort to get a thread lock or at the very least try to paint other users negatively because they are smart enough to know you troubleshoot all software issues before you invoke possible hardware failure.

How it happens for me now is it works fine while I'm searching through records and tapes to sample from. By the time I find something I want to use, it starts doing that. It's every **** time, too!

Man, I've been off the forums for a minute and camr across this thread and read through all the bickering. I wanted ot reply to you and let you know I have the exact same issue. I had called Akai support and we had some trouble coordinating on a time to get together on the phone (but the Tech was very accomodating). Anyway, in between the time we were supposed to get together on the phone I did some troubleshooting from difference scenarrios and found that my crackling was due to me using both the MPC audio interface and another interface together. Meaning I had one of them set as the input and the other set as the output (did not matter which one) and after about 1-2 minuts the crackling would start, last 30 seconds or so then some and cycle again. If I used either interface exclusively (for both input and output) the crackling did otn occur. As another poster sugggested, I think it may be a clocking issue, but I'm no expert there so I won't speculate further. IN any event I at least know what is triggering it and just don't use them together....

Same here, its happens when using 2 interfaces at once, when trying to sampling from one to another. I assume it's a clocking issue too bc of the circumstances.

As weird as it sounds i was actually glad it was happening that way because i was hoping it wasnt a hardware fault b/c i had read about the issues with eie when it came out. Just relieved to know it isnt the ren per se. Ive really never had two interfaces in my setup trying to use them this way....

 But in order to use vintages modes you have to have ren interface running and if you happen to be using your own interface already this issue will remain :hmmm:

I normally run the audio out from my laptop into my speaker setup. But whenever I'm mixing down to tape, I use the stereo outs from the MPC into my Tascam 414. The problem seems to occur either way. This also happens when I run a microphone in. So, it's hard for me to properly use this thing on the count of it.

So after 5 pages of ranting, raving and false information.....it comes down to clocking issues first suggested by Rouge Scrunt? :WTF:

If this is the case, this is exactly what I was talking about regarding guys not being technically savvy. When you are using multiple digital devices, they need to be clocked properly.

I wasn't trying to clown or beat anyone up in this thread. I was and still am only trying to get to the bottom of the issue...then get this in the hands of the right people to address if necessary. Several Ren users not having this issue replied early on. The smart thing to do was to ask them how they have their Ren set-up so you too can have a properly working system.

If you have problems with the Ren after ensuring all digital devices in your set-up are in sync, please comment further.

Suggestion - Try using the Ren's audio interface and your 3rd party interface at the same time. In the Preferences of your 3rd party interface, set it as the work clock master and see if it corrects your proplem.

It happens in stand alone mode when only using the RENs soundcard too.

There's still a few things to try on my end, I'm not putting the blame all in the ren .. But once again , simply put, it's the only music software I've ever had this problem with on this exact same setup. I'm not the smartest when it comes to computers but I've also been making computer based music for almost a decade now.. So I'm not new to it and it's not like I'm just bitching about not being able to figure out something. Anyone who knows me knows that's NOT me .. Ill work with what I got.
But this is something that should be addressed.

Prob -

Ren running in standalone with the ren as soundcard for ins and outs

Bass plugged directly into ren

Go to record sample , monitor on.. Play along with a beat for awhile figuring out a baseline to play.. After a few minutes static starts. How come this happens exclusively with ren? I have it setup just like reason 6.5 in terms of latency and all that.

So after 5 pages of ranting and countering everyones claims you still have not come up with viable solution to the problem. Since you feel more tech savvy than everybody else judging by your tech savvy remark come up with a solution instead of countering problems by questioning peoples tech abilities to real issues. Rogue Scrunt mentioned clocking issues, but somehow that piece of information did not emerge from you earlier on in the 5 pages of "ranting, raving and false information". Musicians/artist, producers arent exactly part of geek squad to troubleshoot electronics and equipment all day long. Maybe that's your job and instead of covering up problems you should start looking for solutions. Or maybe there's something missing from ren's manual pertaining to how ren's interface should be used in conjunction with other interfaces. Your attitude towards peoples problems with this product is sickening rather than problem relieving.

Some have found solutions to their issue.

I am very technically savvy. Whether this is the reason why I am not experiencing this problem or just pure luck...the bottom line is I have a perfectly working system. I am here to help actual Ren users having issues.

@Fellow Ren users
If you are having this problem, shoot me a PM and I will attempt to assist you directly. This can include helping you set up your system or taking down detailed information to report to Akai for a solution.

@ es-k
Close the Ren's software and all other applications. Disconnect all 3rd party audio devices. Use the Ren's hardware as an audio interface with Reason 6. Can you produce the same issue?

I sampled using the Ren's SPDIF I/O.

My system:
Mac Mini 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
16 GB 1333 Mhz DDR

MPC Ren (connected to Mac Mini via USB 2):
Version 1.3
Audio I/O MPC Ren
Sample Rate 44.1 Khz
Buffer 128 samples (2.9 ms)
Latency Adjust 520

Sampling source:
MV-8800
SPDIF Out to MPC Ren SPDIF In

I have no annoying artifacts, pops, or clicks in my recorded audio.

GALVANIC ISOLATION. I really think its this. Turntable would be doubly so if not earthed. Its also a good idea to consider RF interference as well like, but with a lot of these USB devices the galvanic isolation is not good enough. Can be cable, can be actual interface as well. So I am not yet to point the finger but I reckon its this that is causing the noise. It is a common problem to. Here is a wiki for you to read if you do not know what galvanic isolation is.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galvanic_isolation
No way do I think that the GPU, CPU has anything to do with it at all as some might have suggested. I really think that that noise is from lack of galvanic isolation in USB interface, and static builds over time to so makes sense it comes on after a time to, but maybe not. you would have to try different USB cables, Change power leads and try and earth turntable to. If it still happens then yeah its gonna be some work to jimmy your own fix - read reverse engineering the interface to galvanically isolate the interface.

I spent the evening looking into this. I can reproduce this issue if I use two audio interfaces...my Apollo as the Output device and the Ren as my input device. The problem can surface immediately or it may take a minute or so.

I tried to see if I can sync the two audio devices. However, the Ren can only sync internally. And so far, I cannot get the Apollo to sync to the Ren's SPDIF port (noting I am using a cheap RCA cable). This was in an effort to see if this would solve the problem.
