I run Massive and Reaktor with MPC Software often with no issues. When it comes down to it its all soft synths and plug-ins it will run fine with either maschine or studio. dont get me wrong i think both are great machines both with good and not so good. neither are bad. and both will work with NI instruments.

well I wouldnt say iconic but it was more cool than i expected. I'm glad I've only experienced it from 1.3.1. Its safe to say I'll be copping one of these at some point.

Good review thanks !

Good read.

I still think 'Half Full Level' serves absolutely no logical or musically useful purpose though. Adjustable Full Level (JJOS) should have been jacked and written into the code because it's a very useful feature.

Half level fulfills the same purpose as full level. To trigger the pads at a fixed amount....nothing more nothing less.

Obviously not. It has no useful purpose in the context of making music. Nothing even semi-useful.

half level may serve a purpose. I have had times when I sequence a part and then turn then turned the velocity down on the track to 50 or 40. so i guess it would serve the same purpose.

well one thing I can think of is for some things like battery for example... you want a specific set of samples to trigger which wont happen on full level (which would trigger different samples)..

so I guess you could bounce from full to semi .. or something like that I suppose?

good point probably works well with the layering velocity triggering feature.

It serves me well. Sometimes I want to record my drums at a fixed level but not at full level. Half level comes in handy. But I wouldn't mind if there is a user setting to allow me to set a fixed level to any value I desire....a low priority feature request.

It'd be easier to just do that 'freehand', with anything under a velocity of 63 triggering the second set of samples. If we take that analogy further though; a pad with 4 Zones/Layers would require 4 separate velocity ranges, which in turn would make HFL even more redundant.

It's a non-feature IMO. Dead code space. Make Full Level definable and you've suddenly got a very handy and quick way of defining an exact velocity before recording.

Just in case Pete and Co are reading - In JJOS you press and hold the Full Level button and dial in your velocity. Simple. 8)

hey I was trying to find the reasoning...

that hold full while dialing is cool.. might be cool if you could also hold full and hit a pad to get the increment you usually would when full level is on and you hit that pad (pad 16 being 127 for example) so you could quickly get all pads to that level on the fly... and change it on the fly. keep the dialing though.. that would be neat.

I've been trying since I read about it when it first came out.

I intended to read through the manual but didn't get past the page describing this 'feature'. Page 8 or 9 or something? I presumed the rest would be filled with other such nonsense. I was like...

I like your idea though.

I like and use it alot. If i have an idea i want to test really quick and the volume for that certain track would be too loud in full level, i just turn on half level and play around or record. really diggin this feature!

Aaaand i can always raise certain notes in volume, because i didn't record at full velocity ;)

Or... sometimes you have let's say a bassline from a plugin where when you hit a pad at full velocity (and only at full velocity), the bass note gets that extra attack that you don't want on a track. You hit half level and you are good
