PayPal is being a major PIA, I exceeded my spending limit since I wanna pay for 2 SP's in the same month, so I gotta validate my card = 2-3 more days of waiting.
Got my money today and wanted to pay the buyer, but nope, gotta wait.
Luckily he seems to be patient.

Yeah that spending limit shit happened to me last year. If you spend a few grand within a certain period they lock your shit down! Part of their anti money laundering obligations, they tried to make me wait but a quick telephone call to Paypal and account was unlocked within minutes. Funny how they don't tell you about this stuff in advance...so be aware if you're buying lots of high value gear through Paypal.

Got an email today saying it gave up on him when he tried to turn it on, all dead.
So he refunded my money and said he'd keep it.

Thats two SPs that i struck out on!

Dammit man that could have been yours,

still holdin out for a linear power supply sp but none has popped up yet.

Sounds like the seller changed his mind, or was offered more money elsewhere. Like the SP1200 is gonna suddenly die after all these years, and being sold on ebay to you.

I had a SP1200 seller change his mind on me when I was testing the machine in his house, with the money in my pocket. That is some wack bullshit for real.

For real! I saw that one and it even went for less than the one I was buying, I would've easily bidded on it!

And Clint, I dont think he's a scammer. He said he would contact me when its fixed and maybe work out a deal outside of ebay.

that's one of my fears with these vintages pieces, gotta say yall got ballz to fork out that kind of $$$ on them

Same way dudes pay premium for anything Neve / Api,

its all about the sound and paying that sort of dollar for a sound you are accustomed and fond of is a small price to pay.

theres a reason why some vintage gear gains more value, the sp will never be reissued so it will only go up.

synths on the other hand is a wild market and Korg really put a spin on it. since the ms20 remake there old prices are going down as theres a new version coming out soon and I predict this will happen for other manufacturers for eg the 808/909 is the most sampled drum sound if Roland has learnt anything from korg they should reissue 808's/909's perhaps even better them with a few mods etc.

I sold my 808 at premium prices once I got wind of the ms20, and if roland do take the right steps I will pick up a new one at a fraction of the price...

people want hardware something that's real they can touch and feel, and as a bonus its a investment , software on the other hand is worthless as soon as the transaction has taken place.
