wait, what message did it say and what did it ask for?

there are a few s900 websites online you could find through google... but ill tell you right off the batt you will need to do a few things to get stuff from a modern pc to a floppy disk. Hopefully your s900 floppy works too...

the s900 has the operating system on an eprom in the machine, it does not start up from system disk. it sounds like it is asking if you want to clear the onboard sample memory and load from a floppy disk. i would hit yes or no (you might have to scroll around on the screen with the jog wheel) or try hitting 'play' 'rec' or 'edit sample' just to get into another part of the machine.

here's the manual:http://manuals.fdiskc.com/flat/Akai%20S-900%20Owners%20Manual.pdf

at this point i would send it back. it sounds like either something was shaken lose or damaged in shipping. contact the seller and start from scratch. it will cost more than it is worth to fix if it's not something easy. my .02.

never saw such a message. :? :hmmm:

i do know that an s950 that blew up in my face years back upon booting lit up all the lights as it did so.......

either try to reseat the OS eproms or send it back...

some OS updates did boot off of floppy though...

i think there is up to a 4.** OS version...

yeah, 4.0 boots from floppy, and apparently has some more s950 like features... if memory is correct. I never got around to trying it myself.

Might want to open it up and check the connections to the front panel switches.
