Discuss Akai's iOS apps iMPC & iMPC Pro

I copped this app yesterday so I think I have the latest version that most people were complaining about having to update to and it erasing all their work (that blows). I think it's pretty dope but it CONSTANTLY freezes when I've got a few bars looped up and trying to build on it which is obviously annoying as hell :x . Anyone know whats good? heres a youtube video of my problem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFty-xdPj8w

Yeah, App store would always give you the latest revision no matter what. Issues on the current version, were the erasing of user data you mentioned and an inability to make the update over wifi.

I have seen both Garageband and the Facebook app on a couple updates have an issue that the apps if downloaded over wifi but were buggy as hell and froze and crashed all over the place. Leave to Apple to corrupt a data stream simply because it isn't a local data transfer over a hard wire. It's the same zeros and ones. :Sigh: :hmmm:

I have iPad 1 and 3 and I can't repeat the bug on either. Off top I can't think of any major difference in the iPad 2 that would cause the bug.

Don't know if you downloaded over wifi or not, but I would delete the app on the iPad, delete the app/IPA file in iTunes, and re-download through iTunes and install through iTunes. And as always reset the iPad before launching the app for the first time.

I realize you may have done all that already, but it's so random a bug I don't know what to suggest other than "clean slating" the whole thing and hope you can't repeat the bug on re-install.

I wonder if he's on iPad 2 as well? I can't repeat the bug on iPad 1 or 3. And are using it with the Fly hardware like the guy in video? I wouldn't put it past Akai to have totally screwed up the software/hardware interfacing.

There's so little to go in in the video (obviously no fault of the uploader), I can only take a guess at what's happening on his. The lights flashing after the sound dropping out are clearly 'stuck" MIDI messages. If it chokes on that it's not hard to imagine that the MIDI messages are so screwed up internally that a Note trigger is possibly sending a message to the stop button in error. But that seems almost too weird as that would be a MIDI MMC message not a Note On or Off message.

EDIT - I just realized he has a part 2 video with the same issue with no Fly attached.
