Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By LateArrival101 Mon Nov 22, 2004 11:39 pm
hi guys...

i got my MPC2000XL stolen.
it had the 8 outs and full ram.
i just got a brand new one and the dude i got it from says it has EVERYTHING, even the efx card.

now...i know how to tell if the 8 outs card is there (just look behind it..DUH. lol), but...how do i check to see if it has 32MB ram and if it has the efx card (without opening the MPC, of course).

also...what are ALL the options that can be put in the MPC besides the 8 outs, 32MB ram, and efx card?

please get back to me.
VERY important.

thanx a lot,
_chris

To check if you have the effects board, go into MIXER then press F5 for FXedit. If you don't have the board you get a message saying "Effect board is not installed."

On the right side of the DISK screen it says how much free memory you have, although it is listed in kbs. See what it says just after you switch the MPC on, before you load any samples. I'm sure there is a clearer way to see how much RAM is fitted, but I'm not finding it at the moment.....

Another board that can be fitted is for SMPTE. Not very common, & again you can see on the back if it is there.

Besides what you listed you can also add flash rom to the MPC but I don't think it's that common. The one you're buying probably won't have it.

To check the memory you can:
go into the sample screen
highlight the length of the sample
press open window - it should say how much memory

to check effects just go into the effects screen.

zip250s DO work.

It allows you to save into the mpc, and will be there when you start up. Like the 2000 need the os installed everytime you power up, but you can install the os in the flash rom and it'll boot from the flash.

Or you can save sounds that you frequently use, so you don't have to load them.
