The x0xb0x has already been out since 2006. It's a hardware clone of the TB303. i.e. as close as u can get to the real thing.

I've been saying for over ten years "why don't Roland re-release their TR808, TR909, TB303, TR606, Jupiter 8, Juno 60/106, etc?".
They're not bothered it seems.

Good on Korg though!

From what I've read and heard it gets you 90+% of the way there in terms of sound and the sequencer, but owners of both the x0xb0x and TB-303 seem to be blown away by how close the new clone is. I've heard side by side comparisons of both online where there seems to be a difference in resonance, and others where it's indiscernible. I can't afford £1500 for a real TB but I'm sure I can stretch to £500 for the new one.

With the huge analogue resurgence that's going on they may be forced to re-release everything, or alternatively just accept that all their classic gear will be released by a 3rd party. I'd be at the front of the queue for a re-released analogue Jupiter 8.

This could happen with the SP one day. Not necessarily with EMU's consent but a 3rd party. The filter chips that they ran out of are probably the least interesting sonic of the whole machine IMO, so who knows...

I wouldn't be holding my breath waiting for Roland to do anything other than using their famous analogue synth model names/codes on bland digital workstations, and weak virtual analogue synths, in an attempt to profit off of the legend/cult status that some of their earlier products have gained.

They have no idea, and are blaming everyone else but themselves for the last 3 years of the company running at a loss.

I was watching this video a few weeks ago (excuse the terrible quality). The question gets asked at 2.15. The final response around 5.30 is deflating.

In this financial review of the 2011-2012 financial year, they seem to be blaming local and global economic conditions for their 3 years in a row of losses, rather than the sh!tty V-products they are producing...

The answer in that video, that Roland always look forward, never back, what a load of crap, whoever it is in Roland that decides to use old analogue model names on new digital products obviously has a different view, and then saying that they are releasing a whole set of vintage style patches for their new 'Jupiter' synths, no idea.

And making some point about how Japanese never use the number 4 in their model names/codes, what about the Jupiter 4 synth and MC-4 sequencer, just to name a couple of Roland products off the top of my head, what a bunch a clowns.

Also interesting that they have a Roland System 700 modular there on stage, alongside some V-crap.

Korg and Moog understand what is good, but Roland really are tragic; they have some of the best vintage gear but have been doing their worst at recognising it and giving the people what they want. For over ten years we've been crying out for TR808, TR909, TB303, Jupiter 8, Juno 60/106, etc remakes. Analogue synths aren't the past, they are the future; digitally-controlled analogue synths (whilst also retaining the analogue knobs and analogue control) - yes please
