Notes Not Appearing In Step Edit

Maybe I'm missing something...

Last night I worked on a beat using separate tracks. Kick on track 1, snare on 2, hats on 3, clap on 4 and a chopped sample on 5.

After I recorded all of the parts live, applied timing correct to everything but the chopped sample and snare. When I went I to step edit to fix some things, none of the notes were there. I tried changing the step increment and combing through the measures to find the notes but no luck.

This is the first time I've ran into this so far (from using the machine every day for the past 3 weeks). I don't use timing correct after sequencing much at all, so I'm guessing it has to do with that.

Is this common?

Timing correct is probably moving the notes off of exact timing grid steps.

The Step<> keys are moving through the sequence on exact timing steps, according to the chosen Timing setting in the MPC.

Try holding down the Goto key, while using the Step<> keys, to move to the previous/next event on the track, rather than stepping through according to the timing grid.


From the manual...

STEP < / > key

This locates the sequence point backwards and forwards one step at a time.

The step is set in the Timing field of the MAIN screen.

When Timing is OFF, you can move a step by one clock.

HOLD the GO TO key and press this key to locate the position of the next/previous event recorded on a track.

Thats should come in pretty handy i always just used the jog wheel which tends to wizz past notes pretty easily.
