Will order this one today, spray paint the Bezel black. Its guaranteed to work & hot swap is overrated anyways.

Acard firmware 3.75.

Hot swap is necessary if you want to move samples between MPC and computer, and onto other memory cards.

Hot swap might seem overrated if you don't need it, but it is very useful if you do.

All my tests have been with MPC3000 OS 3.11, have not tried any readers with Vailixi 3.50, the results might be different with OS 3.50.

This is the other addonics, which means it works but not How Swap correct?

Yes, that is just an IDE-CF adapter, no active electronics to provide ATAPI hot swap capability, so not hot swap...

**Media must be in the device during boot up. Media is not hot swappable

But, the SATA version of that reader, with a SCSI-SATA bridge, 'MIGHT' give you hot swap CF in an MPC3000, with a black bezel, but there is no way of knowing without testing it...

http://www.addonics.com/products/adsacf.php
**hot swap function depends on the SATA controller. Some early SATA controllers do not support hot swap. Please confirm with your controller supplier. If you need to add a SATA controller, we recommend using one of Addonics SATA controllers of which are all based on Silicon Image chip set.

I am giving this one a go...

Bought one of these cheap SATA CF readers, when buying some cables, to see if it operates the same as the Delock SATA CF reader above...

And might try this one later, to see if multicard support works...

Hi every one....
Just new here on the forum. Just bought myself a 60 in a nice condition with 3.10 and a marion-imterface.
So the quest begins on what to choose. After searching the forum and saw good tips en advices, i came across this device.

Any body any tips or thoughts??

Thanks in advance

Hot swap seems more attractive since you mentioned the benefits, I will go for the standard Addonics with ACARD for now until a solid hot swappable reader surfaces, good luck with SATA bridge keep us posted maybe that is the solution for this whole mess

Don't experiment just get something that works for others, you will need SCSI for MPC60 in order for anything to work thats all i know.

The Delock reader seems like the only readily available IDE/ATAPI reader, that hot swaps in the MPC3000, that I can find.

Would be interested in other IDE/ATAPI hot swap readers, that are available new at the moment, to test them out.

If the SCSI-SATA bridges/readers work properly, they seem to be the way forward for hot swap in the MPC3000/60.

Due to SATA being the current industry standard, and IDE/ATAPI/PATA being old/dead technology, there will only be less PATA options over time, not more.

You might find that non-hot swap works well enough for you anyway.

Will see how I get on and report back. This thread has brought clarity of all the options available. You contributed significantly to this, Thank you.

eh?
The DeLock 91640 is solid and hot-swap so why go for the Addionics?
I got the Delock and sprayed the bezel black a few days ago in readiness for my 7720U arriving. Easy to do.
The mpc3000 doesn't handle the swapping of floppies (in certain situations) very well either.
The reason I settled on the Delock is that I see that it is the one that SEED78 uses in all his pictures whilst he says how good hot-swapping is in the 3000.

Somehow DeLock didn't seem like a safe bet before. But you are right, its been a learning process for me.. If i see that hot swap is necessary for my workflow I will buy the DeLock for sure, this thread is very complete and anyone wanting a CF upgrade will appreciate all this info. Thanks all.

Quick update:

Was lucky enough to find an ACARD locally and the guy also included an adaptec SCSI PCI Card for free which I can use to make the firmware updates

The bad news is that the addonics adidecf doesn't work, I have even updated to the latest firmware

its this CF Reader http://www.addonics.com/products/adidecf.php

Have a sandisk extreme compact flash and three others none work.. could it be that I need to flip the removable drive bit on the sandisk, i can see there is a tool to do it?

It must be the MPC not recognising cause i tested the ACARD and CF on my PC via the ADAPTEC and its all working.
