mpc 60 midi setup with S950 + turbo phatt tips ?

i will receive an emu turbo phatt this week. but haven't worked with a sound module before..
is it the same set up like with a S950, that you create a program with the midi note numbers in chronological order and then play the soundmodule via midi ?

any of you have experience with this combo ?

Its not like an S-950 in one way, because that is a sampler. What I can tell you having once had a Mo Phatt keyboard (PK-6), is that in multi mode there were 16 midi channels available and you could load a sound (patch) on each midi channel. Drums, bass, synths, whatever you so choose. You can then trigger these patches via midi.

Pretty standard multi-timbral sound module operation, I would expect the manual explains all of this. Making a chromatic program template or setting that pad arrangement as the default might be something you find useful.

you may wanna hook up a MIDI keyboard to your MPC as well for controlling the turbo phatt, since the pads only give you access to 64 of the notes/sounds per channel... whereas a keyboard will give you access to all 88 notes and in chromatic order obviously.

There are actually 128 MIDI notes available in the MIDI spec.

Not sure what range the Turbo Phatt will respond to.

An 88 note keyboard will give you access to 88 notes directly, but you have various options for the number of keys on different keyboards, and usually additional notes can be accessed with octave shift buttons.
